Key Purpose of the Role:

The Associate, Strategic Accounts in our Strategic Solutions team works to ensure Worldpay is continuously improving our approach to sales and delivering products and services to our most valuable cusotmers. They are laser-focused on keeping Worldpay competitive in a constantly evolving market. By using sales measurement models and other performance indicators, he/she analyzes data to make recommendations in the way we design products, approach sales tactics, pricing structures and the overall sales process. By being critical in looking at our data from all angles, we can be proactive and anticipate changes we need to make in the business.

  • Support management of the largest accounts at Worldpay with a 9 figure P&L contribution focusing on key account activities to drive merchant advocacy and growth
  • Support our Strategic Solutions Directors (SSD) in developing a partnership with the merchant, to provide advice-led consultative sales strategies
  • Face off to our largest customers to ensure merchant is kept informed and up to date on the industry and all aspects of their business
  • Act as relationship owner when the SSD is out of office or not contactable, and be a key member of the entire account team to support collaboration across functions

The Day-to-Day


  • Develop insights and merchant-facing materials to support Account Director in developing cross-sell opportunities and driving share of wallet growth based:
    • Tailor propositional sales material to make it highly relevant to customers
    • Planning and tracking account activity and performance in CRM
    • Conduct initial analysis on pricing, supporting meeting planning and preparing customised merchant-facing materials to support commercial-oriented and roadmap-oriented dialogue (e.g. Quarterly Business Reviews)
  • Provide key customer insight to internal product and strategy teams to shape new product development, new partnerships, new market entry, and new internal processes
    • Manage key stakeholders to influence important decision on key initiatives
    • Undertake analysis on customer data and size commercial impact
    • Pro-actively generating change requests to support merchant innovation and following up on merchant-led projects with ESD/Delivery
  • Constructively challenge the account team on the customer strategies and key decisions, and be accountable for the success of the account
    • Organise account team meetings and track key deliverables
    • Critically assess decisions made by the team and create businesses case for proposed actions
  • Provide data-driven advice and consultation to optimise merchant's end-to-end acceptance and WorldPay revenue. Activities include:
    • Recommending customised commercial commentary in collaboration with Customer Analytics
    • Providing input to (Optimisation Team) in developing merchant-specific recommendations for improving performance (including deep dives on specific optimisation opportunities)
  • Contribute to merchant relationship health, increased merchant advocacy and understanding of pain points to optimise ways of working. Activities include:
    • Building strong relationships with merchant contacts per contact map
    • Becoming go-to person to understand merchant business opportunity with implications on customised pricing and proposed solutions that add value for merchant
    • Driving follow up activities in response to merchant feedback (e.g. bi-annual account-level NPS survey) including coordinating cross-functional teams
    • Supporting integrity of commercial framework (e.g. contracts, set ups, refund requests)
  • Internal support -- business planning and risk management
  • Collaborate with Corporate Support and Implementation on cross-functional merchant issues
    • Providing input to Account Plan
    • Developing initial forecasts and summary of merchants at-risk
    • Managing risk through supporting CDD review upon trigger activities and resolution of non-compliant situations
  • Act as primary merchant facing contact when Account Director is not available
