How you will contribute
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Truck Driver position in our Shipping & Receiving Department. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will transport large galvanized structures on a flatbed truck within a 150 miles radius (DAY RUNS - $16 HR). Additionally, you will…
- Drive company flatbed truck to customer destination and return to the galvanizing plant (DAY RUNS) $16 per hr. Must have flatbed experience
- Inspect truck and trailer for defects before and after trips and submit reports indicating truck condition.
- Oversee repair to truck and equipment, report issues to Operations Manager.
- Maintain driver log according to DOT and company regulations.
- Assist workers in loading and unloading truck making certain the truck is loaded safely and according to ICC and company regulations.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water. Make additions as necessary.
- Must be able to make necessary road repairs to lights, fuel system filters, etc.
- Act as a customer service representative of the company, and always maintain excellent customer relations with all customers.
- May be required to work in shop during voids in schedules or slow periods.
What it takes
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of over the road driving experience with a valid Commercial Drivers License and current medical certification including drug screening as prescribed by the ICC and DOT.
- Prefer a Minimum 3 years experience driving a flatbed truck
- Exhibit excellent safety practices and behaviors and follow the intended purposes of Valmont safety policies and procedures.
- The ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
- The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
- The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
- The ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Some repetitive lifting (up to 50 lbs. on occasion), stooping, reaching, pulling, standing, pushing, and grasping are required.
Highly qualified candidates will also possess:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 10 years of previous over the road driving experience
- 5 years of flatbed experience
- The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings
- The ability to meet delivery, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
