  1.0 FTE Teaching Assistant Principal Charter School
For the 2025-2026 School Year
In and Out of District
Contract to begin: School year 2025-2026 - 198-day contract

Salary:  $96,873-$103,952 DOE

Required Qualifications:
Alaska Type B Administrative Certificate and an Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in correspondence education and charter schools
  • Broad knowledge of K-12 curriculum, with a major emphasis in Core Knowledge and Classical Education.
  • Experience with developing and managing a multimillion-dollar budget
  • Ability to work in partnership with parents and community
  • An emphasis and a strong understanding of techniques for teaching spelling, writing, and comprehension as set forth in The Spalding Method.
  • Has met the Alaska Reads Act requirements for supervising K-3rd grade teachers of reading. (AK Reads Act Endorsement to supervise K-3 teachers teaching reading.)
Description of Position:
This position will share administrative oversight and responsibilities with the Principal. In addition to the traditional responsibilities of an elementary/middle/high school Assistant Principal, administrative responsibilities include work unique to charter schools. These include working with an Academic Policy Committee, assisting with the operating budget, and managing facilities. The specific responsibilities of the position will depend on the experience and qualifications of the applicant and how the administrative responsibilities will be shared by the Assistant Principal and the Principal.
 
Academy K12 Charter School Information:
801 E Arctic Ave.  Palmer, AK 99645.  Academy K12 Charter School currently serves students in grades K-8.  Additional grade levels, 9th – 12th grades will be added beginning August 2027.  Academy K12 has a current enrollment of 280 students in grades K-8, and a projected enrollment of approximately 380 students.  Academy K12 is committed to Core Knowledge Sequence and Classical Education.  Parent involvement at Academy K12 is high and parents are a valued and integral part of the learning program.

  • An administrator provides staffing and professional development to meet students' learning needs
  • An administrator uses assessment and evaluation information to make decisions and to implement curriculum
  • An administrator effectively communicates with diverse groups and individuals
  • An administrator acts in accordance with established laws, policies, procedures, and good business practices
  • An administrator fosters positive community relations while facilitating parent involvement
