The Senior Specialist, Category Marketing supports the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that drive traffic, sales, and brand engagement across key merchandise categories. This role partners closely with Merchandising, Creative, Media, and E-Commerce teams to bring go-to-market strategies to life, ensuring campaigns are customer-centric, on-brand, and executed with precision. The ideal candidate is a highly organized marketing professional with strong analytical ability, exceptional communication skills, and the capacity to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced retail environment. Job Description:Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field preferred.
Work Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in retail, consumer goods, or agency marketing roles.
Skills:
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven cross-functional collaboration experience.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Working knowledge of consumer and competitive insights, business analysis, and seasonal sales strategies to support decision-making and planning.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently while maintaining high professional standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with project management tools a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Execute Category Power Business year long campaigns across digital, media, email, and in-store channels.
- Translate category strategies into actionable creative briefs and manage workflow through completion.
- Collaborate with Merchandising and cross-functional teams to align on promotional priorities and customer messaging.
- Coordinate and execute vendor co-op marketing programs, ensuring deliverables meet brand and business standards.
- Maintain campaign calendars, timelines, and proofing processes to ensure flawless execution.
- Monitor and analyze campaign performance; support post-campaign reporting and optimization.
- Partner with E-Commerce to ensure consistent storytelling and promotions across digital platforms.
- Stay informed on industry and competitor trends to support innovative marketing approaches.
- Able to confidently attend and participate in meetings for the Sr. Category Manager, as needed.
- Foster a collaborative team environment by building strong relationships and sharing information as a key contributor within the Marketing team.
- Develop a thorough understanding of Academy's policies, procedures, and safety rules.
