THE ROLE: 

AMD is seeking a highly motivated engineer to join our Data Center GPU team, working on platform design, validation, and solutions that help our customers succeed with AMD Instinct systems. This role plays a key part in accelerating the delivery of cutting‑edge AI and datacenter technologies by validating system behavior across AI performance, and GPU Software Stack domains as part of the DC GPU AI Customer Engineering team. You will work across internal engineering teams and customer programs to identify issues early, drive resolutions, and elevate product quality.

You communicate effectively with engineering teams and executives, influence design decisions, and act as a trusted technical advisor. You enjoy mentoring junior engineers, promoting best practices, and shaping the validation strategy across multiple products. You bring a customer‑centric mindset, using both technical insight and emotional intelligence to translate customer needs into actionable engineering direction. You take ownership, deliver high‑quality results, and contribute positively to team culture through collaboration, initiative, and continuous learning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Serve as the “customer inside AMD,” validating customer‑facing collateral and platform engineering ingredients on both AMD reference platforms and customer systems.
• Partner closely with platform engineering, firmware, software, ROCm, validation, power/performance, networking, and cross‑functional teams to define and improve validation guidelines for customer platforms.
• Use pre‑production hardware to root‑cause and resolve system integration issues early, reducing downstream impact for OEM, ODM, and hyperscale customers.
• Drive issue debug and closure with urgency, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete resolutions.
• Collaborate with software, firmware, and hardware teams to develop Proof‑of‑Concept test content and evaluate innovative, complex, or differentiating platform features.
• Identify coverage gaps proactively and work with stakeholders to expand validation scope through new test cases, methodologies, and process improvements.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• Strong understanding of PC architecture, PCIe, and microprocessor fundamentals.
• Deep knowledge of modern x86 server platforms and datacenter GPU architecture (AMD Instinct™ experience is a strong plus).
• Proven experience developing validation methodologies, automation frameworks, and test infrastructure.
• Hands‑on background in system test planning, execution, and test development.
• Experience in silicon bring‑up, board bring‑up, and cross‑functional debug.
• Strong debugging skills across SoC, board, and system levels.
• Proficiency with C/C++, Python, Perl, or similar scripting languages.
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows server operating systems.
• Self‑starter who works effectively with minimal guidance and excels in cross‑team collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements, automation enhancements, and innovation.
• Passion for solving complex technical problems and improving product robustness.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities in parallel.
• Experience in AI model performance tuning, GPU software stack development/validation/debug is a strong plus.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience in system validation, silicon bring up, or platform development.
