THE ROLE:

 

We have a new opportunity for a Lab Technician (GPUs and Servers) based onsite in our lab based in Secaucus, NJ. This role is hands on, working with components, hardware, “rack and stack” assemblies, removing and repairing semiconductor GPUs, switches and CPUs, cabling management, X-ray scopes and more work at the component level for bring up and power on.

 

You will be part of a team and will work cross functionally with other teams including local Site Engineering, NPI, Services teams and Lab Managers for our lab supporting new, cutting edge GPU technology for AI infrastructure.

 

This opportunity is with our Secaucus NJ campus lab team, with a standard work schedule Monday - Friday: 2:30pm - 11:00pm Eastern time, with occasional weekend work opportunities.

 

THE PERSON:

 

You bring a wide range of abilities and technical skills to the table, including experience with server racks, removing and repairing semiconductor GPUs, switches and CPUs cabling management, X-ray scopes and more work at the component level for bring up and power on.

 

Your approach is collaborative and you shine in teamwork, relationship building, and supporting diverse internal customers across organizations and functions. You have a strong history of working successfully and proactively both independently and within a team. You are known as analytical and highly attentive to detail, self-motivated and as a positive, humble ‘results driven' team player.  

 

You are committed to meeting deadlines, and bring enthusiasm to fast-paced, multi-project situations. 

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage server upgrades, integration, automated OS provisioning process, rebuilds and other projects as required, often working with Engineering and other teams
  • Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures
  • Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes
  • Follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate AMD Leadership
  • Reliability Testing, including setting up and executing a variety of environmental and mechanical stress tests according to defined protocols (shock and vibration, EMCI, Temp Cycling and more)
  • Foster a positive team environment by sharing information, participating in meetings, asking questions, and staying informed on team updates
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, safely climb ladders, wear personal protective and ESD gear correctly, and stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods without loss or reduction of productivity

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Hands on experience testing, removing, repairing, and replacing discrete semiconductor components including GPUs, switches and CPUs in a semiconductor lab environment or reliability testing facility
  • Demonstrated effective and collaborative communication and teamwork experience
  • Experience and ability to work autonomously and also collaboratively within a team environment
  • Work with lab tools (e.g.: diagnostics, tests, and standard semiconductor industry hardware and software, oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.)
  • High attention to detail, and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Experience with Windows Server OS, MS Excel and Powerpoint
  • Experience with Linux PXE services a plus

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

 

  • Associate's degree in a relevant technical major, or an or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred 
  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent certifications or experience is desired
  • MCP/MSCE certification is a plus
