Principal DevOps Lead – GPU Infrastructure
We are looking for several hands-on developer leads to lead various efforts that are critical to enabling AMD's AI stack to deliver faster and with higher quality. Our software is open-source first and customers consume our software stack alongside with a host of open source frameworks that are leveraged to deliver inference and training workloads at scale. Right now, there's a tremendous amount of work to shift AMD to a true open-source, shift-left, development culture.
The following roles we are hiring for:
1) ROCm Codebase Lead - drive strategic and design towards moving from a highly distributed project that ROCm is today to a highly collaborative, open-source first, and mono-repo focused development culture. Example projects include:
2) ROCm CI Lead - drive the overall strategy and design of our GitHub-based CI system as well as unification efforts with pre-existing systems so that we have a truly shift-left test automation platform.
3) ROCm OSS DevOps Lead - you'll be responsible for leading a team who ensure OSS projects built on top of ROCm (SHARK, PyTorch, SGLang, vLLM) are well supported by AMD providing needed CI automation and supporting developers of these projects with their DevOps needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with tools like Buildkite, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins to ensure smooth and reliable software delivery
- Contribute to major components of our CI platforms while leading a group of individual contributors
- Work with stakeholders across many component teams to help modernize their developer workflows
- Contribute to adjacent open-source projects taking leadership roles within them as needed
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience
- Ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail
- Deep knowledge of modern developer platforms such as Chrome, PyTorch etc aka you should know what shift-left means and why it's important. Understanding of what tooling is needed to enable that at scale is critical.
- Proficiency Python and Bash for automation and tooling as well as proficiency with some CI platform.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipeline design, version control best practices, and build systems
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with GPU-based compute environments and automated CI/test workflows
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform
- Strong understanding of the machine learning and AI project lifecycle, with hands-on familiarity with popular ML frameworks and inference tools such as PyTorch, vLLM, and SGLang.
