THE ROLE:
Join AMD's Validation organization as a Lead Validation Engineer and drive the strategy, architecture, and execution of validation for next-generation ML-powered gaming technologies, including upscaling, frame generation, and ML-driven rendering (e.g., FidelityFX Super Resolution).
In this role, you will you'll own end-to-end validation for complex, performance-critical features, ensuring visual quality, stability, and scalability across GPUs, platforms, and game engines.
You will define validation direction, mentor engineers, and partner closely with research, productization, and integration teams to deliver production-ready technologies used by millions of gamers worldwide.
THE PERSON:
You are a highly experienced validation engineer and technical leader who combines deep expertise in graphics systems with a passion for quality, scalability, and real-world impact. You think beyond test execution - you define validation strategy, anticipate failure modes, and design systems that ensure robust, high-quality delivery across complex, non-deterministic environments. You are comfortable operating across software and hardware boundaries, diagnosing subtle visual and performance issues, and making data-driven decisions in ambiguous scenarios.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own end-to-end validation strategy and architecture for FSR and related technologies
- Design scalable automation frameworks and CI/CD systems
- Lead development of scalable validation systems covering: visual fidelity, performance, stability and non-regression
- Establish best practices for validation
- Lead adoption of AI-driven solutions to enhance validation efficiency, including intelligent test generation, anomaly detection, and automated analysis and reporting of visual and performance data
- Architect CI/CD systems for large-scale validation across GPUs, drivers, and OSes
- Optimize test coverage, execution time, and infrastructure efficiency
- Define validation plans, test matrices and prioritization strategies
- Drive cross-platform testing across GPUs, drivers, and OS configurations
- Lead root-cause analysis of across: rendering pipelines, GPU execution, cross-platform inconsistencies
- Guide usage of advanced GPU debugging and profiling tool
- Translate validation insights into product and engineering improvement
- Collaborate with research, productization, MLOps, DevTools, QA lab, ISV integration, and GPU Open team
- Report E2E validation status to PMO, product, release and engineering mgmt
- Drive technical excellence and raise quality standards across the tea
- Lead sprint planning and prioritization for validation deliverables, aligning team efforts with feature timelines, quality goals, and release milestones
- Mentor and technically guide engineers
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive experience designing and building test automation frameworks at scale
- Expert-level Python programming
- Strong understanding of system-level validation and SDLC
- Deep understanding of rendering pipelines
- Experience with upscaling / reconstruction methods (FSR, DLSS or similar concepts)
- Ability to diagnose complex rendering artifacts and pipeline issues
- Proven experience defining validation approaches for image quality and perceptual systems
- Strong understanding of quality metrics
- Experience defining acceptance thresholds and tolerance models
- Strong experience with performance analysis: frame time, latency, GPU/CPU bottlenecks
- Ability to evaluate and optimize performance-quality trade-offs
- Proven experience designing CI/CD systems for test automation
- Experience handling large configuration matrices (hardware, drivers, OS)
- Strong understanding of scaling validation systems
- Ability to debug across software-hardware boundaries
- Experience leading technical initiatives across teams
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills
- Ability to influence without direct authority
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with DirectX 12 and/or Vulkan
- Understanding of shader programming (HLSL/GLSL)
- Experience integrating graphics features into game engines
- Exposure to ML models used in rendering pipelines
- Contributions to graphics tooling or validation infrastructure
