PMTS SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER 

THE ROLE: 

AMD is looking for a strategic software engineering lead who is passionate about improving the performance of key applications and benchmarks. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.  

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.

We are hiring a Principal Staff Engineer who wil with 15+ year experience who will  be responsible to design solutions, lead the development of System management software for AMD data center CPU, GPU and APU processors by collaborating with cross-functional teams scattered across various geographies. In this role you shall contribute to open-source communities, represent our company in standard working groups, work with industry partners to define specification and design solutions for Telemetry monitoring and management, RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability) aspects of the AMD processors.

SKILLS: 

• Ability to lead Cross-functional team technically for End-to-end Hardware and Software Co-Design based Full life cycle of Product Architecture, Design and Development from Scratch.
• Deep Understanding of processor in-band and sideband or out-of-band management interfaces and various microprocessors that contribute to overall Telemetry, management and RAS error monitoring and mitigation functions.
• Knowledge about standard specifications defined by UEFI, DMTF, OCP work groups such as Redfish, PLDM, MCTP and others.
• Understand how CPER formats and ACPI firmware work between OS and UEFI on BMCs.
• Work with major Linux distributions such as RedHat, SUSE, Ubuntu for delivering Linux OS for our data center customers.
• Must have lead team of developers, close on requirements with stakeholders and achieve deliverables in set timelines.
• Develop/review code in C, C++, write scripts using shell and python.
• Proficient in build systems, cross tool chain, cross-compiler, linker scripts, open source, library, device tree, bootloader, board support package, porting and bring-up.
• Hands on experience working on the following is a must:
  • BMC (Baseboard Management controller), OpenBMC, Redfish, JSON, REST based services
  • power-api, work-load managers, data center/server management tools/frameworks
• Should be well versed with using source control tools viz. GIT, Gerrit, JIRA
• Excellent communication skills to work with other engineers around the world.
• Proven record of working during pre-silicon and post-silicon bring-up of systems management software for high-end data center server products.
• Knowledge in system-on-chip system firmware development for IP characterization, code optimization, architecture benchmarking and profiling, crash dump analysis and trace.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE: 

• MS/M Tech/BE in Computer Engineering/Electronics/Electrical Engineering from a reputed college/university.
• Should have total experience of 15+ years, with at least 10+ years of relevant experience.
