PROGRAM MANAGER 2 - POWER & PERFORMANCE

 

THE ROLE: 

As Power and Performance Program Manager in the Embedded Group, you will have the opportunity to orchestrate end-to-end planning, tracking, communication, and risk management of Pre-Silicon Power/Performance projections and Post Silicon SoC/System Power and Performance for all embedded products. By managing both internal and external deliverables, you will work to ensure all embedded new products are delivered on time. This critical and highly visible role provides an excellent growth opportunity for high performing individuals looking to make a difference and deliver a stand-out experience to customers of AMD

 

THE PERSON: 

A successful candidate brings strong technical understanding of SoC power/performance workflows and have the ability to establish and drive to goals including plan of record, timelines, budget, scope, performance, and quality. A candidate must be self-motivated, must have a passion for working with a diverse team of creative engineers and senior executives, must be able to deftly manage both internal and external dependencies and ensure all embedded products are delivered on time. The candidate must be a team player with a commitment to meeting deadlines and an aptitude to thrive in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment..  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Program Planning & Execution:
    • Own strategic planning and execution tracking for Pre-Silicon and Post-Silicon Programs, ensuring alignment with Silicon, Firmware, Software and Platform milestones
    • Define schedules, manage dependencies, and track deliverables across all dependent teams
  • Pre-Silicon Support
    • Drive the team towards achieveing Power and Performance proejctions using right architectural models and simulation tools as per program timelines
    • Co-ordinate for the right compute capacity for the pre-silicon PnP activities
    • Ensure collaboration with architecture, design and verification teams to align on PPA goals
  • Post-Silicon Support
    • Drive the teams for the bounding box attainment and ensuring validation for power/performance across PVT conditions
    • Plan and track the delivery of the competitive benchmarking and performance analysis reports
  • Cross Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Product Engineering, Firmware, BIOS, OS/Driver, Silicon Validation, Platform, Architecture, Program Management, and Segment Marketing to ensure seamless integration of PnP workstreams
    • Coordinate with silicon and system teams to ensure PnP insights translate into architectural decisions, customer collateral, and product readiness
  • Risk Management & Issue Resolution:
    • Identify and mitigate risks related to power/performance activity readiness, coverage, and enablement.
    • Lead triage and resolution of blocking issues in coordination with architecture, SoC and validation teams.
  • Communication & Reporting:
    • Provide crisp progress updates to management and stakeholders.
    • Maintain dashboards on status and issues for projects and deliverables in Confluence and use Jira/MS Project to track all the engineering work
    • Anchor weekly PnP program reviews and drive outcome-focused discussion
  • Assist in developing and implementing project management best practices, tools, templates, and metrics to drive continuous process improvement within engineering

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Technical
    • SoC Power Architecture, pre-silicon power modeling, and power estimation flows
    • SoC performance modeling, workload characterization, and bottleneck analysis
    • Post-silicon PnP workflows: EDC/TDC tuning, CaC validation, power/thermal characterization
    • System PnP concepts including DVFS, PMFW interactions, thermal design, OS-level power features
    • CPU/GPU/NPU architectures at a high level
    • Benchmarking, KPIs, and power/perf sensitivity analysis
    • Silicon bring-up flows and dependencies across firmware, drivers, and validation
    • Deep technical execution is not required, but strong comprehension and ability to drive technical conversations are essential
  • Program Management
    • Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder engineering programs
    • Strong ability to translate technical detail into structured plans and deliverables
    • Excellent communication, crisp status reporting, and stakeholder management
    • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and follow-through
    • Data-driven, detail-oriented, with ability to manage ambiguity
    • Ability to network, build relationships, and drive effective decision-making across multiple functions and levels within the organization
    • Experience with JIRA, MS Project, Confluence, and program dashboards
  • Experience in semiconductor industry with 5 years hands on work in Power and Performance activities, 5 years of program management experience and an overall industry experience of 15+ years
  • Flexible working schedule to manage global (Asia and North America) program execution teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Engineering degree with 15+ years of industry experience
  • PMP certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
