PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER 2
THE ROLE:
As a PFA engineer, you will be responsible for investigating and diagnosing the root causes of failures in semiconductor devices and assemblies. You will utilize advanced analytical techniques and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product reliability and support new product introductions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct detailed physical failure analysis on semiconductor components, including qualification failures, customer returns, and new product introductions.
- Utilize a range of analytical tools and techniques such as SEM, FIB, EDX, optical microscopy, and electrical testing to isolate and characterize failures.
- Document and communicate findings, including root cause analysis and recommendations, to internal teams and external customers.
- Collaborate with design, process integration, reliability, and test engineering teams to implement corrective actions and process improvements
- Maintain accurate records and reports of failure analysis procedures and results.
- Support product development and validation efforts by providing failure analysis expertise.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in failure analysis methodologies.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Advanced Analytical Techniques: Proficiency in using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and other advanced imaging and elemental analysis tools for semiconductor failure analysis
- Electrical and Physical Isolation: Experience with electrical fault isolation methods such as nanoprobing, Conductive Atomic Force Microscopy (CAFM), and non-destructive testing techniques (e.g., X-ray, scanning acoustic microscopy).
- Sample Preparation and Deprocessing: Skilled in sample preparation, decapsulation, cross-sectioning, and delayering for root cause identification in both silicon and package-level analysis.
- Data Analysis and Documentation: Strong ability to analyze complex data, document findings clearly, and communicate technical results to cross-functional teams and customers.
- Collaboration and Problem Solving: Demonstrated success working with design, process, reliability, and test engineering teams to drive corrective actions and process improvements.
- Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying current with industry trends, new failure analysis methodologies, and emerging analytical technologies.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and deliver results within tight timelines.
- Software and Automation: Familiarity with data acquisition, analysis software, and automation tools relevant to failure analysis workflows.
