THE ROLE:
Join the team working on AMD's next-generation data center and server processors. The Diagnostics team develops tests that exercise and validate the hardware blocks in the compute processors developed at AMD. We understand the features that go into the hardware design and have the software skills to program them to life. Once developed, these diagnostics are used throughout the product lifecycle, from pre-silicon validation through production.
THE PERSON:
You'll join our Memory Diagnostics development team, where you'll gain an understanding of all the HW
clients that generate memory access requests, and drive memory traffic to maximize bandwidth and
stress. You will combine your knowledge of computer architecture with a passion to push boundaries and HW to their limits.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design innovative diagnostics by applying knowledge of memory subsystems, caches and
- DDR/GDDR/DRAM technologies
- Code, debug and optimize functional and stress tests for memory subsystem and system-on-chip
- hardware IP
- Develop diagnostic tests to bring-up and validate HW features on pre-silicon environment (HW
- emulators) and post-silicon systems (HW silicon and platform)
- Identify and resolve chip, board and firmware issues
- Debug and root cause HW and SW issues, ensure high quality software engineering and hardware
- coverage bar
- Identify and drive improvements to framework and test architectures to improve HW coverage,
- debuggability and quality
- Leverage AI-powered coding assistants, agents, and analysis tools for code generation, software
- design, review, optimization, root-cause analysis, issue triage, and debug acceleration to improve
- engineering productivity while validating generated code and findings to maintain quality.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Familiarity with JEDEC specifications and DDR memory technology/standards
- Experience developing and executing DRAM/memory stress tests for bandwidth, latency, data integrity,
- address-pattern and retention coverage across memory controllers and channels
- Influence system-level validation using a working knowledge of PCIe, high-speed interfaces and
- PC architecture
- Experience in diagnostic, device-driver, firmware or embedded software development in largescale
- Linux environments
- Drive production-ready test solutions across ATE platforms, wafer sort, functional test with
- screening-pattern development
- Collaborate with hardware designers, architects and validation teams to resolve complex
- hardware/software issues, production failures and failure-analysis challenges
- Design and optimize object-oriented software using modern C++ and Git/Gerrit
- Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Own end-to-end testing, issue triage and root-cause analysis to efficiently resolve complex
- hardware and software failures
- Innovate with AI coding assistants, agents and analysis tools to accelerate software design, review,
- optimization and issue resolution, while validating generated code and findings
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent
