THE ROLE: 

The AMD Data Center Graphics and Accelerated Computing (DCGPU) organization is eager to hire a skilled technical leader to drive automation innovation. We seek an individual who excels in fast-paced environments, utilizing strong communication, problem-solving, and prioritization skills. As the automation lead, you will shape the future of compute platforms by building scalable, resilient, and intelligent systems that support validation, automation, and data-driven decision-making. You will engage in full stack development, automation frameworks, DevOps, and data engineering to deliver solutions that enhance AI and HPC silicon validation.

They possess strong communication and emotional intelligence, effectively interacting with customers and collaborating across teams. Experienced and seasoned, they drive technical decisions independently, influence direction, and guide architectural choices aligned with long-term strategies. They balance customer needs with AMD business goals, ensuring technical responsiveness and strategic alignment. Dedicated to growing technical expertise and team culture, they mentor junior engineers. Comfortable with ambiguity, they provide clarity through technical leadership and are accountable for project success. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Grasp the broader automation development ecosystem within DCGPU and company-wide to drive comprehensive requirements and roadmap planning.
• Collaborate with various teams to develop and manage test automation tools from node to cluster level.
• Lead the build, test, maintenance, and release processes for automation tools, ensuring alignment with validation needs.
• Lead and mentor engineers, promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Innovate to advance AMD's validation capabilities through tool and script development, methodology enhancements, and technical initiatives.
• Acquire a deep understanding of silicon SoCs, board, and system level designs to enhance automation tools and scripts for validation.
• Utilize debug insights to refine tool features and automate test execution, data collection, and log processing.
• Partner with DevOps, data engineering, and validation teams to ensure alignment in architecture, tooling, and best practices.
• Work with teams and leadership to identify and address future validation program and customer needs.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• Extensive experience in full stack development with Python and Angular or similar technologies. 
• Background in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (e.g., Ansible, Terraform). 
• Knowledge of web development tools and PowerBI
• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and managing compute clusters (e.g., Slurm)
• Proven track record in using or managing cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and/or on-premises edge infrastructure. 
• Experience with data engineering tools (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Airflow) and database systems (SQL/NoSQL). 
• Proficiency in Linux, including system administration and scripting. 
• Experience in MAAS (Metal as a Service) is a plus point
• Extensive experience in software/tools development and delivery, working with teams across multiple groups and geographies
• Extensive experience with board/platform-level debug, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization – able to translate a deep understanding of system level debug strategy into optimal automation and debug tool flows
• Extensive knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy
• Forward thinker that drives improvement to development process, automation architecture and fosters a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to diverse audiences. 
• Proven track record in leading project and teams, and driving cross-functional collaboration

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• Bachelor's or Master's in computer engineering or computer science or electrical engineering, or comparable disciplines with 10 years+ working experience.
