SMTS Software Functional Safety Manager

 

THE ROLE: 

As a SW Functional Safety Manager, part of AMD Functional Safety team, you will be directly impacting the certification of key AMD products, targeting critical AMD growth markets such as digital cockpit and autonomous driving. Your task will be to provide technical leadership for the product line safety function and for its customers. You will perform this in close cooperation with different functional owners within AMD.​

This challenging role will not only require extensive project leadership skills but also a thorough understanding of system safety standards within the automotive and industrial markets.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

  • Participate to the development and deployment of AMD's functional safety strategy aligned with ISO 26262 and industry-specific standards.
  • Define Functional Safety Plans, tailoring safety efforts to align with project needs, including custom IPs, CPUs, GPUs, SoCs, and overall architecture.
  • Collaborate across hardware, firmware, and software development teams to ensure alignment with safety objectives.
  • Partner with business units to integrate safety into product roadmaps early in the development lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with functional safety standards like ISO 26262, targeting ASIL requirements relevant to AMD platforms.
  • Support the creation and application of safety mechanisms at software levels, ensuring single-point and latent-fault coverage compliance.
  • Define or update AMD's functional safety processes and ensure they are embedded in product development lifecycles.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of SW safety workflows.
  • Develop and maintain safety case documentation to demonstrate compliance with standards and readiness for product release.
  • Oversee and ensure the completion of all required safety work products, including Safety Plans, Safety Assessments, and Confirmation Reviews
  • Manage functional safety interactions with external partners, including suppliers, third-party IP vendors, and customers.
  • Define and monitor development interface agreements (DIAs) to align external contributions with AMD's functional safety objectives.
  • Conduct or oversee safety assessments and audits to validate compliance with ISO 26262 and customer-specific requirements.
  • Facilitate both internal and external reviews to address gaps or issues in the safety lifecycle.
  • Build the functional safety capability within AMD by training and mentoring engineers and functional safety moderators.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 12 years of total experience ofwith the ISO26262 standard specifically part 6
  • Knowledge on ASPICE, AUTOSAR ​
  • Experience with SOC design and architecture
  • Experience with software development​
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written​
  • Positive and open minded​
  • Innovative​
  • High level of communication and teamwork capability​
  • Analytical and structured
