Sr. Lead Software Development Eng.   – Embedded Software (Data Center & SPSE)

AMD India (DC GPU Firmware) is looking for a strong technical leader/Architect to lead an Embedded Software development team to lead and deliver modular, quality oriented, and extensible FW infrastructure. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.

Closely collaborate with peer architecture, development and QA teams, customer support and product line management. As a key member of the Technical management staff, contribute to the vision and strategy of continuous integration, improved development processes, quality and productivity improvements.

Ideal candidates will have:

• 16+ years (or more) of overall relevant industry experience and a track record of shipping server/storage/networking products for the enterprise, cloud data center and service provider markets.
• Good written and verbal communication skills should be a quick learner and a team player.
• Prior experience in working as a technical architect in leading a team of engineers and managing any complex product architecture in firmware, drivers & OS Stack.

Strong experience in board bring-up and trouble shooting and co-working hardware teams.

• Good knowledge of Linux and Windows internals, especially dependencies of Operating System on the BIOS and Firmware.
• Strong C/C++ development skills with a good understanding of object-oriented design.
• Experience customization of the firmware for different platforms & features.
• Prior experience in customer facing / applications engineering role will be a big plus.
• Direct experience with architecting, designing and developing complex system/infrastructure software for chassis based embedded networking systems on Linux or any other RTOS.
• Deep understanding of full product life cycle, software development methods (both Agile and Waterfall), and development and build environments.
• Ability to undertake loosely defined goals or complex problems to create order, and drive closure.
• Ability to organize, delegate, and effectively deliver to large and complex programs.
• Ability to drive multi-geo projects by working effectively with remote teams.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, highly dynamic environment, with a bias towards action and results.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, listening, and written communication skills, both within the team and across the organization.
• Ability to mentor/coach/teach/facilitate and lead change in a highly technical/dynamic team.
• Tech/B.E in CS/EC or EE

Role & Responsibilities as an Architect/PMTS:

• Lead and drive the Embedded software development and QA for all new and sustaining AMD EPYC Server, DC GPU Products.
• Responsible for Architecture, Design, Development and Mentoring team members to become successful at AMD.
• Responsible for partnering leveraging the all the development work done by Core engineering in Client and Server teams, with a strong focus on enabling differentiating features for the success of Embedded Business.
• Partner with Platform team, SW Architecture teams to bring-up the BIOS and firmware during Embedded SOC bring-up.
• Partner with HW and Silicon validation teams for verification of all embedded features in the Silicon IP.
• Support field requests / escalations from Customer application engineering team.
• Influence and support software engineers with design reviews, code reviews, and licensing reviews for open source as well closed source code offerings.
• Train and enable Applications Engineers and FAEs on software solutions with esp. focus on AMD differentiated features and technologies
• Provide product and technology feedback and consultancy into Enterprise product management, Enterprise Server Systems and SW efforts, and AMD technology and product planning
• Work on software POCs (Proof of Concepts) for early enablement of new technology.
