Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc. is hiring Sr. Product Development Engineers to Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for enhancements and new products. Develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, cloud-based and Internet related tools. Develop, debug, bring-up, and tune performance of new graphics hardware running on operating systems, utilizing programming and game development principles. Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design. Work in an area of specialization to develop systems-level software, working on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Debug systems-level issues from firmware level to applications level. Work together as a team to resolve them to the satisfaction of AMD's customers. Under supervision, exercise judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD systems and products.

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires experience in the following:

1.Improving outgoing Quality and Reliability of Server/Datacenter products from New Product Introduction through product End-of-Life;

2.Developing and automating data processing of customer production line integration and test results, using Python and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS);

3.Data analytics of manufacturing and customer data to enable data modelling/scripting;

4.Semiconductor manufacturing and test flow fab, bump, assembly, test;

5.Server CPU (semiconductor IC) and embedded architecture, Firmware (example, BIOS) settings, boot process, and BMC;

6.End-to-end system/component/process interactions;

7.Hardware verification, failure analysis and debugging toward root cause identification and corrective action implementation;

8.Utilizing lab equipment - Oscilloscopes, soldering, thermal imaging, visual inspection microscopes, to enable fault isolation and replication, towards hardware issue resolution and CAPA; and

9.Software/program skills and tools in C, Python, SQL, MATLAB, and Machine Learning concepts.

Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, project, or internship experience.
