THE ROLE:

AMD BIOSQA team is part of Global validation team and be responsible to develop new test cased for new features and verify differentiated BIOS release (including AGESA and Platform) for all AMD CRBs. You'll be working with global BIOS design team and validation team in order to release qualified BIOS firmware before customer release.

THE PERSON:

BIOSQA leader responsible for test case develop and BIOS verification in AMD Shanghai Research and Development Center (SRDC). Systems are integrated combinations of hardware components (CPUs, graphics, memory, IO adapters, peripherals, and BMCs) and software components (firmware, drivers, OS, virtualization, and system management). This individual will interface with Marketing, Silicon design, Software and Hardware design, and Validation teams to develop new test cased, define validation strategy and drive validation execution for new silicon and platforms, provide detailed technical direction to the validation engineers. Evaluate risks for the situations where is schedule/time limitations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define comprehensive validation coverage of BIOS release which including platform and AGESA (AMD Generic Encapsulated Software Architecture)
  • Define test scope based on firmware and platform feature list
  • Motherboard and system specification, negotiate features with input teams and BIOS design team
  • Develop test cases for new features introduced and validate features from BIOS
  • Negotiate solid solutions to technical issues and design challenges
  • Ensure all processes are met in development
  • BIOS validation, characterization, and debug of existing and new microprocessor and chip-set products
  • Ability for BIOS level debug and triage to find out the key component cause failure
  • Project planning, status tracking, and reporting to senior management
  • Drive validation efficiency and quality improvement
  • Manage and improve customer experience of APU/CPU products from firmware experience
  • Contribute to client system development processes, team development, tool development
  • Develop/improve automation script to automate test cases.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience of scripting (Perl, python, ruby, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills, requires good written and oral communication in English.  Demonstrate the ability to communicate with a variety of engineering disciplines and management.
  • Requires experience and demonstrated technical expertise in the development & execution of platform level functional test plans.
  • Prior experience with software testing tools and environments, defect tracking, and revision control
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision making
  • Familiar with Microsoft Client Operating Systems, Linux Operating Systems, virtualization software (VMware, Xen, et al), and validation/certification processes for each of these environments
  • Familiar with client system component compatibility and stress testing
  • Familiar with high performance client IO adapters, drivers, and stress testing
  • Familiar with general Computer Architecture concepts
  • Familiar with EDK2 BIOS test development environment will be considered a plus
  • Experienced in leading silicon, BIOS design and bring up will be considered a plus.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor or Master, major in EE, CS or related area.
  • At least 5 years directly related experience. An advanced degree will be considered a plus
