You will provide our customers with expert assistance to a wide variety of questions and problems. Unlike most CSR roles, you will build ongoing business relationships with our customers through repeated contact and consultation. As this is a service and parts center, our ability to get customers' business often depends on your ability to quickly and efficiently provide them with just the right parts and/or solutions – especially when customers are experiencing costly equipment breakdowns. You will also occasionally have hands-on duties that will require mechanical aptitude.
Scope of Responsibility:
- Responsible for serving branches and customers and managing assigned product lines
- Activity involvement in the Company's Total Quality Management process as evidenced by continuous improvement of processes directed towards reducing costs, improving cycle time, increasing sales/gross profits and customer satisfaction
- Carries out policies and procedures and works to performance standards as defined for Distribution Centers.
- Continuous development through reading, schools, seminars and on the job training.
Job Duties:
- Achieve and maintain a high level of service to branches and customers including timely, accurate responses to inquiries and providing exceptional service to satisfy exceptional needs.
- Manage assigned products lines for maximum service levels within established inventory guidelines.
- Perform a variety of duties involved in processing requisitions, purchase orders and maintaining assigned records in accordance with established procedures and practices
- Review vendor open orders and expedite as needed. Perform computer receiving functions as required. Prepare list of overstocks, inactive or obsolete items for return to vendors for credit in vendor returns. Meet with vendors to become familiar with service and items offered.
- Research and investigate branch questions pertaining to various shipments and make recommendations where appropriate.
- Respond to request from branches, corporate or other sources for most competitive prices: anticipated delivery dates; and expedite orders as needs, check stock records and packing slips to ensure accuracy of inventory. Process vendor debit memos as required to correct vendor shipping errors. Review acknowledges from vendor and records and records for future follow-up.
- As required, handle order memos, return records, invoicing, backorder reports and other miscellaneous reports. Maintain records as directed.
- Review automatic order forms to ascertain status of individual purchased items. In keeping with established determination of maximum order expectations for a given time period, decide on basis of present sales effort, items that must be purchased to maintain appreciate inventory levels. Check stock for parts on hand or that need ordering.
- Assist various departments at peak load time and fill in for absent associates as needed.
- Work with distribution center departments to expedite special requests.
- Perform duties as necessary or directed following standard procedures; notify appropriate personnel of deviation and discrepancies
Education & Experience
- Equivalent to high school plus specialize training in customer service techniques.
- Over one year through three years experience.
