Patient Safety Assistants work directly with our Registered Nurses to provide support/oversight to a patient or group of patients on our MedSurg unit. The MedSurg team is a close knight team, led by a leader who has been with Banner Health for over 20 years! The unit consists of 14 private rooms as well as 4 DOU (Direct Observation Unit) beds and has 24/7 coverage by hospitalists.
This is for a per diem (as needed) position with no guaranteed hours.

This position provides oversight to a patient or a group of patients. This position is responsible to communicate with the Registered Nurse (RN) upon arrival, departure and as appropriate throughout the shift. The RN will provide instruction to this position as to the expectations and any pertinent patient information. Will ensure the environment is safe and secure at all times. Is aware of the patients code status and pertinent restrictions and report any issues or concerns to the RN.
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Basic Cardiac Life Support, mandatory safety, hazardous materials, and infection control in-services will be included in orientation and required on a periodic basis.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
