Position Summary  

The Benefits Hub Resource Specialist plays a vital role in supporting student success by guiding individuals through the process of applying for quarterly emergency grant funding and connecting them with essential services. This position goes beyond application processing to provide holistic, student-centered support, including personalized assistance and referrals related to housing, public benefits, food access, financial coaching, and more. The position also reviews and processes emergency grant applications.

This is a temporary project position and expected to end on 12/31/2025. The position could become permanent should funding become available.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Position Salary Range: $45,900/year - $61,296/year

The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components. Competitive salary is within the Range stated above, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Generous benefits package is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid holidays, sick, and vacation plans; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This is a Classified, overtime eligible position and represented by the Washington Public Employee Association of Higher Education (WPEA-HE).

About the Department  

The Benefits Hub is a one stop shop to support students in meeting their basic needs so they can persist and succeed in their educational goals. The Hub provides individualized support and connects students to essential resources such as emergency grants, housing and utility assistance, food access, public benefits navigation, and financial coaching. Through compassionate, student-centered services, the Benefits Hub helps reduce barriers that impact students¿ ability to focus, learn, and thrive.

Essential Functions  

Student Support Services:

  • Student Assistance: Provide one-on-one case management support to students in understanding and accessing available resources.
  • Resource Navigation: Educate students on key support services such as housing assistance, public benefits, food security programs, and financial literacy/coaching.
  • Service Referrals: Identify and refer students to appropriate internal or external programs that meet their unique needs.
  • Ongoing Follow-Up: Conduct follow-ups to ensure students successfully connect with recommended services and receive continued support.
  • Collaboration & Networking: Partner with campus departments and community organizations to maintain an updated, reliable network of resources.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of student interactions, grant processing, and referrals following Bellevue College policies and privacy standards.
  • Support the daily operations of the Bellevue College Food Pantry including but not limited to grocery shopping, meeting with food partner on delivery day, stocking, etc.

Emergency Grant Support:

  • Provide 1:1 assistance to students regarding the emergency grant application process.
  • Verify Financial Aid status to confirm grant eligibility.
  • Review and process emergency grant applications each quarter, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely handling.

Minimum Qualifications  
  • Bachelor¿s degree in related field. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse colleagues and/or students in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Experience in social services, case management, student affairs, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of public benefit programs, housing support services, and community-based resources.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with a student-centered approach.
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated empathy, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to supporting student well-being and success.
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Experience in nonprofit agencies.
  • Experience in higher education.
