Position Summary  

The part-time clinical instructor shall perform their duties and responsibilities in collaboration with the Program Chair and Clinical Coordinator of the Radiologic Technology program.  As a part-time instructor in the Radiologic Technology program, the individual is responsible for assisting the development of curriculum application in the clinical settings. Other responsibilities include participation in assessing student learning outcomes; developing, revising, and implementing curriculum; maintaining current knowledge and skills in the area of assignment; building collaborative relationships within the BC community and the imaging community at large; demonstrating a strong commitment to student success and fostering a positive, caring learning environment that values diversity and pluralism.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Adjunct Professor is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. 

Compensation is $43.80 - $53.78 per hour. Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

Generous benefits package for eligible employees is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid personal leave plan; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc. Eligible employees are faculty who work a combined load of at least 50% at Bellevue College and other Washington State public institutions of higher education for two consecutive quarters are eligible for health and dental insurance at the start of the second consecutive quarter.

In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

About the Department  

The radiologic technology program is an eight quarter AAS program educating students to launch their careers as imaging professionals.  Radiologic technology is a rewarding healthcare field that combines interpersonal and technology skills in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Bellevue College¿s Radiologic Technology Program has an esteemed reputation throughout the imaging community as a provider of skilled, professional and compassionate RT¿s consistently meeting workforce needs.

Essential Functions  
  • Promote teaching and learning in radiologic technology in the clinical setting; assess student learning outcomes and provide students with timely written and verbal feedback.
  • May participate in curriculum revisions with the integration of the latest research aimed at continuous improvement and new course development.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching and learning strategies and innovative techniques including the integration of technology and the latest research to assist students in the achievement of learning outcomes and assessment of learning.
  • Participate in work with the advisory committee to engage community interests in Radiology Technology education.
  • Refer students to appropriate college resources as necessary.
  • Participate in professional development activities related to teaching and learning theory and education in radiologic technology 
  • Maintain professional-technical, ARRT and Washington State certifications.
  • Maintain clinical on boarding requirements.
  • Actively support student success and college pluralism/diversity goals/initiatives and activities.
Minimum Qualifications  
  • Associate of Arts degree in Radiologic Technology.
  • Current ARRT certification in good standing.
  • Active Washington State Radiologic Technologist certification.
  • Current AHA BLS CPR certification.
  • Flexibility to meet assigned clinical schedules.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience across the full scope of radiologic technology, including inpatient and outpatient care, fluoroscopy, orthopedics, surgery, general diagnostic imaging, trauma, and portable imaging.
  • Prior experience working with students in a clinical environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to Bellevue College clinical affiliate sites.
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Additional ARRT modality certifications preferred.
