Position Summary  

The TRIO Student Support Services Program Specialist 2 is responsible for coordinating workshops and events, conduct information sessions, transfer visits and office operations to ensure effective support for first-generation, low-income, and/or students with disabilities. This role involves supervising student staff, coordinating academic support services, and managing daily office functions to foster student success and program compliance with federal TRIO regulations.

This is a temporary project part-time (50 FTE) role. This position expected to end on 8/31/2025. This position can be extended based on funding availability.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Position Salary Range: $45,900/year - $61,296/year

The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The employee is scheduled to work 20 hours per workweek. This is a Classified, overtime eligible position and represented by the Washington Public Employee Association of Higher Education (WPEA-HE).

About the Department  

TRIO Student Support Services furthers the mission of Bellevue College by providing individualized support services to students with limited income and first-generation college students to assist them with their academic success.  These services include but are not limited to academic advising, personal guidance and support, transfer planning, assistance with financial aid processes, study skills development, and tutoring. The department goal is to promote and sustain strategies that improve student success, retention, and completion. TRIO works to achieve these goals by offering programs, resources and guidance that facilitate the students' transition to college and that supports their progress through graduation and transfer to bachelor's degree programs.

Essential Functions  

Conduct Information Sessions: 

  • Meet with students to conduct info sessions. 
  • Conduct information sessions.
  • Screen for eligibility.
  • Schedule participants for intakes. 

Workshops and events 

  • Plan, organize and implement workshops and events.
  • Market events and workshops.
  • Document student participation and program database.

Office Operations and Administrative Support:

  • Manage day-to-day office operations.
  • Hire, train, schedule and supervise front desk student employees.
  • Assist with program reporting, data collection, and grant compliance documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal TRIO regulations and institutional policies.

Transfer Visits:

  • Plan and coordinate quarterly transfer visits to local universities.
  • Collaborate with University staff to organize campus tours and informational sessions.
  • Manage travel arrangements, coordinate registration, and marketing materials.

Other Duties:

  • Coordinate laptop and calculator lending program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
     
Minimum Qualifications  
  • Associates degree.
    One year of experience in academic support services, student affairs, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with database management and student information systems.
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Bachelor's degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience with federal TRIO programs or other student success initiatives.
  • Experience supervising student employees and managing peer support programs.
  • Experience working with first-generation, low-income, and/or students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Student Access Database and ctcLink.
