BMC Helix is looking for a Director of Product Development for our ITSM/ESM group!
In this role, you will oversee the development of our industry-leading, Agentic AI-powered enterprise ServiceOps solutions, focusing on IT Service Management (ITSM) and Enterprise Service Management (ESM) products. As a key member of the Digital Service and Operations Management (DSOM) leadership team, you will drive product innovation, development, quality assurance, and production escalations for Agentic AI core and features.
You will lead a world-class, global SaaS engineering team of 15-20 employees, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as product management, customer success, and support to deliver high-impact solutions. Your responsibilities will include hiring and mentoring team members, managing tasks and priorities, planning releases, and conducting employee evaluations, ensuring the team consistently meets and exceeds expectations.

How will your day-to-day look like?
- Manage the Delivery and Lifecycle of new and existing DSOM products.
- Lead approximately 15-20 employees globally in different time zones.
- Guide product development teams to realize product concepts and bring them to market.
- Engage with early adopter customers to help new feature adoption and go live.
- Meet key customers to help resolve production issues and improve customer relationships.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer experience and incorporate enhancements on an ongoing basis.
- Drive consensus, sponsorship, and alignment for future plans among key stakeholders.
- Work closely with other R&D teams to plan dependency interlock, execution tracking to ensure end to end solution delivery.
- Update project status, raise red flags and propose mitigations to stakeholders to build awareness and confidence in execution.
- Promote a culture of autonomy, transparency, and teamwork, while remaining customer focused.
- Guide and mentor team members and position them for growth and advancement.
- Establish close working relationships with direct reports, colleagues, customers, and partners.
- Analyze complex systems and identifying innovative approaches to solve difficult problems.
- Complete projects and tasks on time, on target, and on budget.
- Adhere to workplace procedures and policies in an ethical fashion.
- Support business and financial analysis to aid in decision making and provide insights that inform business strategies.
- 15+ years of professional experience from global enterprises
- 5+ years of experience in leading and managing world class SaaS software engineering teams working on complex software solutions (preferably ML / GenAI / Agentic AI products)
- 3+ years of experience with enterprise ITSM solutions.
- Experience in mentoring and growing employees across distributed locations, with the ability to attract, motivate and retain great software engineering talent.
- Experience building and managing subscription SaaS software/cloud services.
- Comfortable with modern SaaS delivery methodologies including Agile, Lean, CI/CD and DevOps.
- Experience with cloud native architectures and platform services, including microservices, containers, multi-tenancy, databases, security, etc.
- Customer-oriented with ability to maintain a proactive understanding of customer needs and goals.
- Ability to effectively influence and persuade others with conviction.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including strong presentation creation skills.
- Results-orientated and data-driven, with analytical, strategic & creative thinking.
- Willingness to “go the extra mile” to achieve important goals, including ability to handle work outside of normal hours due to globally distributed teams and customers.
- Ability to maintain calmness and composure in the face of intense workloads and time pressures.

Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.
At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $193,350 - $322,250
