The Information Services & Technology (IS&T) organization provides enterprise-wide technology services and operational support. IS&T manages large scale hybrid infrastructure spanning on premises and cloud (AWS/OCI), supporting production, DR, and lab environments with high availability and performance requirements. We are seeking a Lead Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with 8-12 years of experience to manage and optimize mission critical Oracle database environments across hybrid platforms. This role requires expertise in high availability, performance tuning, automation, and cloud database operations, along with the ability to drive continuous improvement and collaborate across engineering, DevOps, and security teams.
The candidate will operate as a senior individual contributor with leadership influence, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security of enterprise database platforms. 
Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success: 
Database Administration & Operations • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases across Unix(AIX)/Linux/Windows and Cloud platforms (AWS/OCI) • Manage Oracle environments 19C, 23C/ai etc. including Data Guard, ASM, and replication technologies. • Ensure database availability, performance, integrity, and security across environments. • Monitor database systems and proactively resolve performance, capacity, and availability issues
Performance & Optimization • Perform advanced SQL and instance level performance tuning (AWR, indexing, optimizer strategies)  • Optimize storage, query performance, and resource utilization across OLTP and Data Warehouse environments
Backup, Recovery & High Availability • Design and implement backup and recovery strategies (RMAN) or using other utilities/tools. • Define and test disaster recovery (DR) frameworks aligned to requirements. • Manage failover, switchover, and DR tasks for business continuity
Cloud, Automation & DevOps • Support hybrid cloud database platforms (AWS/OCI) and migrations • Develop automation using Shell/Python/Ansible scripting, Infrastructure-as-Code. • Enable self-service database provisioning and operational automation • Integrate database operations into DevOps pipelines.
Security & Compliance • Implement database security standards, access controls, and vulnerability remediation. • Support audits and ensure compliance with enterprise security policies. • Manage encryption, patching, and data protection strategies
Release, Migration & Lifecycle Management • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and refreshes • Support application deployments and environment provisioning • Manage capacity planning and lifecycle management of database platforms
Collaboration & Documentation • Partner with application, DevOps, and infrastructure teams for solution delivery • Provide L3 support and resolve complex production issues. • Maintain runbooks, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation • Mentor junior DBAs and contribute to best practices.
To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience: 
Required Skills & Expertise Core Technical Skills • Oracle Database Administration (19c, 23c/ai) • HA technologies: Data Guard, Standby, ASM. • Backup & recovery (RMAN), or other tools/utilities, database performance tuning • Required SQL / PL-SQL expertise • Experience with OEM or equivalent monitoring tools
Platforms & Tools • Unix/Linux (AIX preferred), Windows Server • experience in scripting: Shell / Python/Ansible • Cloud platforms: AWS/OCI. • DevOps tools, workload automation (Control-M preferred) • Knowledge of AI/ML-driven operations.
Experience & Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in computer science / IT / MCA (or equivalent) • 8–12 years of experience in Oracle database administration • Proven experience managing enterprise scale production environments • Hands on expertise in high availability, performance tuning, and migrations • Experience working in 24x7 production environments with on-call responsibilities.

The salary listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.
