As a Part-time Classical Education Trainee, you will engage in structured preparation for future service as a Classical Faculty Scholar. You will complete pre-service training that builds foundational knowledge of classical education, instructional practices, and school culture expectations. This training prepares you for possible transition into a faculty role in a CSUSA classical school, pending successful completion and hiring needs.
How You Will Impact Education
In this role, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the classical education model, combined with the CSUSA Education Model and its application within CSUSA classrooms. You will strengthen your instructional craft through guided practice, feedback, and reflective activities while learning to apply pedagogical approaches such as Socratic dialogue, narration, explicit instruction, and close reading. You will contribute to classical school communities by participating in limited practicum activities, observing effective instruction, and assisting in building a culture that values truth, goodness, and beauty. Through ongoing reflection and collaboration with instructional leaders, you will grow in professional habits essential to becoming a successful classical educator.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree or progress toward degree in liberal arts, sciences, or a related field.
* Willingness to learn how to alignment with classical education values and a desire to cultivate intellectual virtue in students.
* Effective communication skills and the ability to engage in academic dialogue.
* Ability to complete self-paced and scheduled training activities in various modalities.
* Technology proficiency for accessing online modules and virtual learning environments.
* Eligibility for teacher certification in the designated state is preferred and may be required for future advancement into Faculty Scholar roles.
Job Requirements
The trainee will complete approximately 30 hours of pre-service training delivered through multiple modalities, including online modules, virtual sessions, and in-person learning experiences. These experiences will build essential competencies aligned to the classical education model and prepare the trainee for potential future classroom responsibilities. Completion of required assignments, participation in scheduled sessions, and demonstration of instructional competencies are mandatory. All compliance requirements--such as background checks, fingerprinting, and mandatory safety trainings--must be met prior to any student interaction. May perform other duties as assigned.
