The City of Edmonton's Open City and Technology branch is looking for a talented and dedicated Application & Infrastructure Analyst II to join our Data Technology section. In this role, you'll be a key part of the team that ensures the City's corporate data network operates seamlessly and securely. Your work will directly support critical city-wide services and solutions, helping business areas deliver essential services to people around the clock. What will you do?
- Lead the design and implementation of small to medium system enhancements, and contribute to larger, more complex solution development under the guidance of senior staff
- Provide complex troubleshooting, perform network integrations, and ensure seamless connectivity for digital devices, internet access, and enterprise applications
- Help with long-term strategic planning by researching new technologies, evaluating new solutions, and presenting your recommendations to leadership
- Support a variety of technologies and services, including Cisco network technologies, Infoblox DHCP and DNS appliances, and network security technologies
- Maintain the availability, performance, and security of the City's network infrastructure
- Serve as a trusted advisor, mentor junior team members, and foster knowledge sharing within the organization
- Collaborate with internal technology professionals and external vendors to solve problems and develop solutions
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years of relevant experience, OR
- A post-secondary diploma in a related discipline and 5 years of relevant experience, OR
- A 1-year related certificate and 7 years of relevant experience
- Technical experience in a complex and diverse computing environment that includes a hybrid of cloud and on-premise data, applications, and technologies
Assets:
- Certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Infoblox, F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator, CompTIA Security+, or CISSP
- Certifications or training in cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with scripting and automation tools for network management and deployment
Skills required for success:
- Advanced knowledge of Cisco network technologies, including routers, switches, and wireless access points
- Working knowledge of F5 Application Delivery Controllers (ADC) and cloud computing platforms like Azure, AWS, and GCP
- Proficiency in using tools such as Microsoft Visio and Google Workspace
- Strong ability to plan, execute, and evaluate tasks to meet time, cost, and quality targets
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors

Conditions of Employment:
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement

Work Environment:
- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
- Successful candidates will required to participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation to ensure continuous service availability and rapid issue resolution
- This role works primarily in an indoor setting
