Join the team responsible for safeguarding Edmonton's green legacy. As a Landscape Technician I, you will ensure that the $13 million in annual landscape infrastructure contributed by developers meets the high standards our citizens expect for environmental and social sustainability. The development industry supports this sustainability by contributing —$13 million annually in landscaping infrastructure to the City of Edmonton, through the development process. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and compliance of developer-contributed landscaping assets transferred to the City. This independent role safeguards the City's interests by auditing construction, recommending asset acceptance or rejection, and reviewing maintenance practices.
Apply your landscaping knowledge and exercise sound judgment, to mitigate risks, facilitate timely project approvals, and ensure that new landscape infrastructure meets City standards for long-term performance and public benefit. This position is crucial for the successful integration of private development projects into the City's green infrastructure network.

What will you do?:

  • Conduct and assist with independent field audits of municipal landscaping improvements throughout the construction and establishment phases
  • Support the Landscape Technician II in performing detailed pre-screenings of project submissions and technical documents provided by consultants
  • Participate in on-site pre-inspections and formal site visits to evaluate requirements for Construction Completion Certificates (CCC) and Final Acceptance Certificates (FAC)
  • Generate comprehensive documentation of site deficiencies through detailed photo logs and annotated plan mark-ups
  • Manage essential administrative workflows, including reviewing applications, maintaining digital filing systems, and processing technical documentation
  • Respond to inquiries from various City departments and external partners regarding landscaping requirements and the inspection lifecycle
  • Ensure all developer-contributed assets meet City standards to safeguard long-term green infrastructure and public benefit
