Are you passionate about waste reduction and want to bring others along on Edmonton's journey towards a zero waste future?

Help bring the City's 25-year waste strategy to life by educating Edmontonians about proper waste sorting in apartments, condos, and townhouses. Reporting to the Waste Outreach Coordinator, you will be part of a large team of Waste Outreach Educators having educational conversations, going door-to-door with residents in their buildings. This role will work 12:30pm - 8:30pm and occasionally on weekends. As well, this position will be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions throughout the year. 

What will you do?

  • Represent the City in a positive, diplomatic and professional way
  • Engage residents at their door and provide them with program information and education materials related to proper waste sorting and answer questions
  • Engage residents in conversations about food scraps and recycling sorting
  • Calling property managers to arrange access to buildings for canvassing
  • Use data mapping software (GIS) to record statistical information from conversations
  • Perform physical tasks on foot, such as walking, climbing flights of stairs, and transporting program supplies
  • Closely follow safety procedures and practice self-care skills while working independently in the field
  • Provide advice/recommendations, identify possible improvements regarding educational direction and daily procedures of the Waste Outreach Team
  • Perform other related duties as required
