Job Description:

Under the leadership of the Department Assistant Director and Charge Nurse, the Core Coordinator is responsible to provide support services in the perioperative setting in the Main Operating Room. Ensures that all equipment and supplies are picked and on the case carts, ready for use for upcoming cases. Monitors availability of supplies for future cases, both same day and following days. Communicates supply shortages to Supply Chain if inventory is too low for future cases. Maintains organization and cleanliness of the Main OR Core area and timely return of supplies to Central Supply or Core area throughout the day.

Coordinates the instrument processing for consecutive cases requiring rapid turnover of instrumentation. Accurately documents the sterilization process for IUSS. Maintains the IUSS log, monitors and reports patterns of frequent IUSS instrumentation.

Resolves challenges encountered during daily operations in the Core and determines appropriate solutions; promotes teamwork. Encourages regular communication, informs staff of relevant supply and instrumentation issues.

This position requires the ability to manage multiple activities/events in a fast-paced rapidly changing environment. Must have an understanding of lean supply chain operation processes, aseptic technique, and other sterile processing best practices.


Previous experience in Sterile Processing, Operating Room, or Supply Chain inventory management.

Demonstrated knowledge of basic MS Office, Excel, Outlook, Word, and inventory management systems (i.e. Lawson).     


High school diploma, G.E.D. required.


Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or obtain within three years of hire/transfer into position.

Full Time

8 hour shifts, Monday-Friday, varies 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. or 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
