POSITION SUMMARY:

The Possible Dream Coordinator leads a highly effective outreach program focused on making college a possible dream for a defined population of middle school and high school students who are academically advantaged and economically disadvantaged, with the goal of encouraging these students to complete high school and attend college. The Possible Dream Coordinator displays a highly energetic, passionate approach, identifying, designing, and implementing memorable after school/evening and weekend educational and cultural activities for the program's students and accompanying the students and other volunteers as they participate in the events. The Coordinator may interact with donors and engage their participation where appropriate. The Coordinator manages the nomination process for the program, tracks participation, and shares measurable data that assists in assessing the program's effectiveness. Duties also include collaboration and work with the BEDI Services Division and Student and Civic Engagement Department staff on student engagement and success initiatives and programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Coordinate, supervise and maintain a program that serves approximately 500-600 middle and high school students annually.
  • Create a series of classes, programs and travel activities that provide educational, enrichment and entertaining experiences.
  • Investigate and implement age appropriate activities that may occur on-or off-campus; these activities are scheduled after regular school hours, evenings and some weekends.
  • Promote diversity in the selections of program activities, volunteers and participants.
  • Develop and maintain a cohort of faculty, staff and business resource people to provide knowledge and expertise for academic, career, and cultural programs.
  • Develop a network of regional teachers, administrators, college students, parents and other volunteers to chaperone, promote and deliver youth programs, including exploration of mentoring opportunities for program participants.
  • Develop and maintain the student nomination process for Possible Dream students, including creating, revising nomination packets, and explaining the process to regional schools, parents and community members.
  • Work with the Marketing and Public Relations Office to develop marketing plan including materials, Facebook and website for Possible Dream participants.
  • Work with school administration to identify school contacts for the Possible Dream program and the distribution of materials.
  • Provide measurable data and assessment for the Possible Dream Program.
  • Provide periodic updates to the Delta College Foundation staff/board, donors, and program sponsors regarding students' accomplishments.
  • Champion program success by providing donors and fundraisers the opportunity to participate in program activities.
  • Develop written proposals that identify opportunities for donors to volunteer and host events for students.
  • Work with the BEDI Services Division and Student and Civic Engagement Department staff on the development and implementation of leadership and success initiatives.
  • Work with the Student and Educational (SES) Division on projects and programs that impact student recruitment and retention, such as Orientation and various outreach campaigns.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent knowledge and skills.
  • 1-3 years of position related experience.
  • Experience working with diverse secondary school students.
  • Youth program development experience.
