Description

VA Northern California Health Care System is looking for a Staff Urologist to serve Veterans at the Stockton VA Outpatient Clinic. The Stockton VA Outpatient Clinic is a brand-new building, and the facility offers a full range of medical and ancillary services. The clinic offers pre- and post-operative telemedicine surgical services as well as traditional clinic and procedural space.

The physician is accountable to the Chief, Urology under the Surgical Services Department and is responsible for managing the most effective delivery of state-of-the-art urological care. This includes urology consult/referral review and triage, coordination of urology clinics using the principles of advanced clinical access, pre-operative assessment, operative intervention and post-operative care, and involvement in contracting with local facilities. They participate in all aspects of the general urology program, including the following: outpatient bread and butter urologic care (invasive and noninvasive), pre and post-operative evaluation of patients and routine follow up. The capacity for outpatient surgical procedures at a local hospital as well as minor clinic procedures (cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, vasectomy, etc.) is available.

Opportunity to work at the Sacramento VA Medical Center 1-4 days per month to maintain surgical skills and apply for Volunteer Clinical Faculty (VCF) appointment to work with residents training at facility from UC Davis Medical Center as well as St. Joseph's Medical Center.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm; No evening/weekends, holidays or on-call required.

Candidates must: 1) be a US citizen or PRA (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with [38 U.S.C. § 7407(a)]; 2) possess a current, full, unrestricted medical license in any state, 3) board prepared/certified in Urology, and 4) and confirm vaccination for seasonal influenza.
