The Highlights:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Counselors, the Admission Counselor will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of recruitment strategies of his or her recruitment territory designed to attract and enroll a freshman class of an appropriate size and mix, as defined by university-wide enrollment goals and the university strategic plan.  

The Admission Counselor will counsel students regarding admission to DePaul, participate in on-campus recruitment events and manage a recruitment territory, including all associated internal and external university stakeholder relationships. S/he will review prospective student credentials holistically and make decisions, if not recommendations, for admission consistent with university policies and priorities.


What You'll Do:

  • Develop, execute and monitor targeted recruitment activities - strategies designed to attract and enroll a incoming class of an appropriate size and mix, as defined by university-wide enrollment goals and the university strategic plan. Manage a recruitment territory by managing relationships and maintaining contact with prospective students and their families through the entire admission process through direct mailings, phone calls, school visits, college nights, on campus events and other strategies. 
  • Provide counseling and advising to prospective students about undergraduate education opportunities at DePaul through telephone calls, electronic communication, social media, regularly scheduled appointments, information sessions, open houses and all admission events. Appropriately document all conversation and communication associated with these responsibilities. 
  • Review prospective student credentials holistically and make decisions, if not recommendations, for admission consistent with university policies and priorities.
  • Professionally represent the university to internal and external constituencies cultivating relationships with key influencers including school counselors/advisors, community-based organizations, corporations, not-for-profit organizations and government agencies. 
     

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 1 year of college admission experience or experience as a counselor of college-bound students, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of admission practices and procedures, preferred.
  • Bilingual skills, desired.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of student database management system.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong counseling and group presentation skills.
  • Ability to participate in a fast-paced, creative, change oriented and success driven environment.
  • Regularly spend extended periods standing.
  • Routinely lift more than 25 pounds.
