The Highlights: The Distribution Services Production Assistant assists with the daily operations of the Distribution Services department.  This position primarily operates copiers, binding machines, folder/inserter machines, postage machines, as well as other machines as required, and is expected to produce quality photocopied and bound material within time constraints.  Additionally, the DSPA is responsible for the storage and upkeep of all Distribution Services tracking numbers and delivery information.  
 

What You'll Do:

  • Operate one or more photocopy machines along with other equipment such as a table-top folder, folder/inserter, and postage machines, producing a quality product in a timely manner.  Inspect the final product and adjust equipment to ensure quality reproduction of materials.  Neatly package all finished jobs and arrange for delivery. 
  • Operate digital address mailing printer and prepare mail according to USPS bulk mail standards.
  • Assist customers in understanding departmental procedures, delivery times, and other services offered.  Receive incoming jobs, code and enter all incoming jobs into database, and accurately log all information relative to the job request.  
  • Log all chargeback numbers related to USPS Business Reply Mail, USPS parcels and tracking numbers, and all UPS incoming and outgoing parcels. 
  • Coordinate with the Manager and Assistant Manager of Distribution Services on jobs with critical due dates and/or specialized requirements. 
  • Assist the Assistant Manager of Distribution Services in providing day-to-day supervision and leadership for all areas to ensure that all department goals are met. 
  • This position will act as a backup mail van delivery driver between campuses and the local Post Office stations on days when the primary driver is out of the office.
  • Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by the Manager of Distribution Services. 
  • This position prices jobs for chargeback to departments.

     
What You'll Need:
  • High school diploma required.
  • Progress toward an undergraduate degree required. 
  • A minimum of 1 year of management experience may be substituted for the degree.  Demonstrated management skills: the ability to direct staff and coordinate the flow of work.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed to work with the students, staff and faculty of the University, as well as all related vendors. 
  • Valid US driver's license is required.
  • Excel spreadsheet software (intermediate).
  • Access database software (intermediate).
  • Microsoft Word software (advanced).
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, go up and down stairs, and stand for extended periods of time. 
The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $20.93 to $24.53 per hour.  The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
