Description
Responsible for the management of the physical inventory program including inventory-related processes, documentation, and training. Drives operational excellence and count accuracy with third-party inventory service providers.
Job Responsibility
• Develop the strategic physical inventory vision including processes, field and vendor communication, training, execution, and performance measurement; identify and advocate projects that deliver return on investment, reduce financial and operational risk, and improve departmental capabilities. (45%)
• Provide leadership over current physical inventory processes and procedures to identify opportunities related to vendor performance, regional or district trends, and communication effectiveness; present and gain alignment on changes with partners such as Store Operations, Internal Audit, and vendors. (30%)
• Manage the physical inventory team including hiring, coaching, development, and performance management; manage third-party inventory service vendors and adherence to contractual requirements. (20%)
• Provide financial expertise and support for physical inventory services, budgeting and forecasting. (5%)
• Develop and implement physical inventory training strategies to improve efficiency and effectiveness while mitigating financial and shrink risk. (5%)
Job Qualifications
• Ability to communicate (written and verbal) in common language to facilitate transfer of knowledge as well as proficiency presenting information to large groups
• Basic understanding of accounting terms and concepts including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial controls
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members
• Ability to work with others on a common goal while also ensuring that projects meet financial requirements; ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and team-oriented environment
• Ability to step into the details when necessary and assist in resolving issues
• Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize task
• Basic understanding of retail operations, physical inventory processes and inventory controls
• Intermediate or higher-level ability to utilize Microsoft Office word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database skills
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or general business required. Five or more years of physical inventory experience plus two years of data analysis experience required. Retail, inventory accounting, loss prevention, and/or asset protection management experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of Lawson GL, WebFocus, and 1010data preferred.
