General Summary:

The Sr. Director of Data Engineering and Analytics will accelerate growth and transformation of our Data engineering and analytics landscape. In this role, the person will lead teams designing and building data solutions that capture, explore, transform, and utilize data to support Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and business intelligence/insights. In addition to ingesting data from multiple sources and relaying information to relevant partners, this role will also mentor and develop a team of data engineers.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for Data Strategy, roadmap and capabilities including, sizing's, providing solution options (build or buy), solution design and implementation along with necessary expert consulting time and application configuration.
  • Owns data engineering deliverables and reporting on them as well as collaboration without technology domains for completeness of solutions and supporting other domain requests that need digital support.
  • Evaluate, improve, and implement processes across teams or functional area to advance engineering.
  • Determine best repair, and ensure appropriate maintenance, and documentation
  • Engineering of application architecture reviews and advisory board space with technology inclusive of data science and devops
  • Manage annual capital and expense budget and monthly reporting.
  • Manage vendor relationships by influencing and negotiating work arrangements that maintain cost/performance balance.
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Direct management of technical staff as well as manager level staff
  • Demonstrated in-depth expertise in the design, development, implementation, diagnosis, or repair of technology solutions.
  • Experience with hardware, software, models, methods, and other technology-based intellectual property
  • Provided full lifecycle cost estimates, domain specific support services 
  • Excellent Technology skills and the ability to lead multiple projects of increasing complexity from inception through completion.  Projects may include complex cross product integrations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively write.  Tactful and diplomatic when required.
  • Ability to motivate, reward, and provide constructive criticism and corrective action.
  • Ability to teach, mentor and enhance skills of staff from entry level through leadership.
  • Ability to set goals, evaluate and measure performance, and provide informal and formal feedback on performance.
  • Ability to delegate and achieve desired results from direct reports and provide accountability at an individual, team and departmental level.
  • Ability to build customer applications for web, mobile and in-stores
  • Ability to lead through configuration, set up and installation of store hardware

Work Experience and/or Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, (or equivalent work experience in a related field)
  • 12 years of IT experience
  • 8 years of experience in software engineering or related field
  • Experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC)
  • 7 years of experience leading global technology teams with direct report responsibility
  • 4 years of experience working closely with senior leadership
  • 5 years of experience in managing operational and/or financial budgets, including the managing of 3rd party vendors and/or software providers
