DTE Biomass Energy (DTEBE) develops, owns and operates renewable energy projects throughout the United States.  Our company converts biogas generated at landfills and at dairy farms into clean, renewable electricity or renewable natural gas (RNG). As a leader in this industry, with more than 20 operating facilities stretching from North Carolina to California, we have the proven capabilities to help provide communities with safe, environmentally sound renewable energy.  Headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, DTE Biomass Energy is a wholly owned subsidiary of DTE Energy.  DTEBE has an immediate opening at our facility below. 

 

Fort Bend Power Producers, LLC. is a landfill gas to renewable natural gas (RNG) processing facility that utilizes landfill gas in Needville, TX.  The facility has an 8.0 MMCFD LFG processing plant consisting (2) blowers, (2) Ingersoll Rand reciprocating gas compressors, (1) Worthington reciprocating gas compressor and (2) new Vilter Screw Compressors installed in 2018.  The plant has gas treatment equipment to remove H2S, Oxygen, water and CO2. The pay range for this position is $39.34  -  $44.58.

Job Summary

Location: Various, United States

This position is responsible for executing maintenance and operating gas processing facilities at two landfills converting raw biogas into renewable natural gas that is injected into a natural gas pipeline.  These sites are in Needville and Freeport Texas. This is a rapidly growing business line with potential for future promotion following success in this role. This position will report to the Plant Manager with a matrix relationship to the Controls Manager.

Key Accountabilities
  • Execute maintenance on compressors, pipelines, conduct electrical troubleshooting, create operational reports, and safely operating a complex renewable natural gas processing plant while maximizing profitability
  • Successfully utilize the Computer Managed Maintenance System to schedule and track maintenance activities and critical spares
  • Attention to detail, especially with the correct metering of renewable gas, will be critical to success
  • Safely, ethically, and profitably operate the equipment necessary for the processing of gas into pipeline quality gas 
  • Calibrates tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and installs all power plant instrumentation, control systems and electrical equipment
  • Perform maintenance on motor control centers, motor operated valves, generators, excitation equipment and motors
  • Design and install new equipment and/or system modifications
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on DC backup power equipment, process controls, programmable logic controls (PLC) and emission monitoring equipment 
  • Schedule, coordinate and monitor contractors on specific tasks as required 
  • Identify safety hazards and recommend solutions
  • Follow environmental compliance work practices; identify non-compliance problems and assist in implementing solutions
  • Train other team members in the areas of instrumentation, control, and electrical systems
  • Perform housekeeping assignments as directed
  • Perform equipment safety inspections as required and record results as appropriate 
  • Participate in small construction projects. Read and interpret drawings, sketches, prints and specifications as required
  • Order parts as needed to affect maintenance and repair
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Perform Operations tasks on an as-needed basis and other tasks as assigned
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Valid driver's license and have a good driving record
  • 5+ years' industrial experience and/or Electrician experience, showing continuous skill advancement 
  • Solid background in instrumentation and controls – flow meters, control valves, PLC, calibration, VFD, 4-20 mA signals, gas chromatographs, etc.
  • Safety Background/Understanding – Understanding of OSHA requirements, developing a good safety culture, and implementing safety improvements

  • Frequently lift objects up to 30 pounds
  • Vision requirements for this position include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus


The employee will be required to operate and maintain a DOT regulated pipeline. Employee will be subject to random drug screening during employment per DOT PHMSA requirements. Must be able to work in or outdoors during all seasons including wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold and/or heat. Most work is within the vicinity of a municipal solid waste disposal facility. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
