Englewood Health is seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic Cardiothoracic Surgery team. About the Opportunity
- The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) functions in a surgical support role to the physician in the provision of operative care, and works under the direction, supervision and responsibility of a physician.
- Currently we have six per diem OR PAs on staff
- Minimum of four 10-hour shifts per quarter
- On-call schedule: weeknights 5p-7a (14 hours) weekends 7a-7a (24 hours)
- Available to cover weeknight and weekend on-call shifts as needed
What your day will look like
- This role is focused in the Operating Room, supporting complex cardiac surgical procedures including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair/replacement, and other thoracic interventions.
- Primary responsibilities of the job focus on first and second assist in the chest during cardiothoracic surgeries, including assisting with open and closing chest incisions for adult cardiac patients, conduit harvesting, and endoscopic techniques.
- Suturing and caring for wounds including removing sutures and dips and changing dressings.
- Participate in on-call coverage as scheduled.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to departmental growth.
Qualifications
All Candidates
- Operating room experience as a PA/NP required
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience in cardiac surgery preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, manual dexterity, and ability to perform under pressure
- DEA and NJ CDS registration
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
Advanced Practice Nurse
- Master's degree required
- Current NJ Professional Nurse License
- Current NJ Nurse Practitioner License
Physician Assistant
- Bachelor's degree required
- Graduate of an anccredited Physician Assistant program
- Current NJ Physician Assistant License
- Current NCCPA Certification

The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The rate shown reflects the flat hourly rate for this position; this position is not benefit eligible.
Per Diem rate: Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner (OR) $110.00 per hour
