Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we're calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Sr Automation Process Engineer located in Guadalajara, North.

Reporting to the Equipment Maintenance Manager, the Automation Process Engineer role will be leading a team and perform as strategic lead in automated lines development, testing, programming and optimizing automated systems in various mechanical and digital environments to help and improve processes, save costs, and achieve operational excellence.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Responsible for leading end-to-end production line operations, including line installation, setup, and commissioning.
  • Expert in automation project phases and execution, with direct interaction and coordination with Program Managers. Accountable for full production line ownership, ensuring successful implementation, performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Contact with vendors for new Machinery sourcing and purchasing.
  • Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes. 
  • Understand the machine operating standards, on sequence of wear and tear parts and product defects 
  • Ensure the uptime of machines through regular preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance 
  • Drives projects on automation and motivates learning within the team.
  • Prepares why-why evaluation & drive for permanent corrective actions. 
  • Should be able to give feedback to improve the design of process and equipment. 
  • Directs daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs.
  • Solder, cold plate and liquid cooling processes.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with other functional groups such as engineering and operations to ensure the efficient operation of the departmental function. 
  • Collaborates and offers input to planning, building, and maintaining the Automation framework and associated processes for new products. 
  • Identifies and drives change to ensure automation effectiveness of existing processes. 
  • Demonstrates understanding of customer requirements, offer suggestions and ideas on how best to deliver automation solutions. 
  • Presents information regarding automation projects across different levels within the organization and clients.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field; Mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electronics, or similar.
  • Strong background in automation engineering with previous work experience in similar role.
  • Experience in control & vision systems, PLC programming, Cognex, industrial robotics (Omron, Epson robots or others).
  • Controls knowledge; Sensors and electronic security for machinery and users.
  • Mechanical knowledge; autocad, lecture of mechanical references, mechanical assembly.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in automation project phases and execution, with direct interaction and coordination with Program Managers. Accountable for full production line ownership, ensuring successful implementation, performance, and continuous improvement.
  • English proficiency advanced.
  • Strong ability to develop and present information across different levels within the organization and with clients.
