Job Summary The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing semi‑skilled and skilled maintenance and repair work on facilities and equipment. This position ensures a safe, functional, and well‑maintained work environment and performs related duties as assigned. Job Responsibilities

  • Inspects facilities and prioritizes necessary repairs, improvements, and preventive maintenance tasks. Adheres to all safety rules and regulations to minimize risk and ensure the safety of employees and visitors. Identifies unsafe conditions, clears hazards, and reports safety issues, security concerns, and illegal activities.
  • Troubleshoots and performs diagnostics for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical system repairs.
  • Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks, including preventive maintenance, component replacement, and repairs related to carpentry, mechanical systems, security systems, and basic non-licensed electrical and plumbing work. Utilizes appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Completes assigned projects and makes informed decisions based on experience. Varies duties according to assignment and individual skill level. Notifies supervisors of repair needs beyond scope of authority.
  • Reads and interprets project work orders; determines material and equipment requirements and organizes supplies. Prepares required written reports and documents all work performed.
  • Follows proper safety precautions in all work activities. Reports safety issues, equipment malfunctions, and emergency situations promptly.
  • Cleans spills and mitigates unsafe conditions in accordance with procedures and required timelines.
  • Inspects and maintains assigned equipment and small tools to ensure proper operation; completes minor repairs or reports issues as needed.
  • Operates vehicles and equipment safely and according to regulations; identifies and reports mechanical issues requiring additional repair.
  • Assists with setup and teardown for special events and performs other tasks as directed.
  • Completes daily work logs, incident and accident reports, and requisitions for supplies and materials.
  • Responds to emergency cleaning and repair requests as required.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in custodian, building maintenance, facilities operations, or related trade.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and work in varying environmental conditions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
