Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Packaging Design Engineer located in Aguascalientes, Mexico.  

Reporting to the Desing & Engineering Manager, the Packaging Design Engineer role involves: to achieve the optimal cost vs. protection functionality balance through the use of materials and techniques that can ease its manufacturing and handling, and provide support to Flex customers, as well as external customers.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Develop packaging proposals to protect the product integrity during its transportation, handling, and distribution.
  • Determine the packaging system's component specifications, develop 3D models and engineering drawings.
  • Develop and build the packaging prototypes, using most common packaging materials and suitable tools for that purpose, maintaining order and hygiene in work area and laboratory.
  • Knowledge of international standards (ISTA and ASTM) for transport simulation and integrity testing of packaged products.
  • Engage with manufacturing departments, new projects, laboratories, commodity department and suppliers with creative teamwork and guidelines to successfully complete and monitor all packaging proposals committed.
  • Seek potential savings opportunities in existing packaging, as well as freight space optimization.
  • Prototype manufacturing, define and execute transport simulation tests to packages.
  • Knowledge of transport simulation testing equipment.
  • Customer service to Flex sites worldwide, in conference calls and / or reciprocal visits for support requests.
  • Development, documentation and administration of all information related to design and testing.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial design, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalentt work experience.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Knowledge in SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge in Excel and Project.
  • Experience with performing integrity ISTA tests and packaged product simulations.
