General Purpose:

Responsible for effectively managing all strategic operational processes and resources and managing an organization to achieve and maintain operational excellence.

Principle Accountabilities:

· Manage appropriate staffing and inventory levels. Will directly manage three production managers.

· Oversee the assembly operations to meet corporate KOI.

· Supervise production staff on work method and quality checkpoints.

· Coordinate with other departments and other Flex sites to drive for excellence.

· Coordinate efforts of operations team by establishing procurement, production and engineering services policies and practices.

· Ensure ISO and safety standards are adhered to.

· Report to Senior Management team in weekly operations reviews.

· Coach and mentor Operations team.

· Leverage industry practices and apply to internal systems and processes.

· Implement appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training. A Master's or MBA degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of operations experience, from high-volume manufacturing companies, e.g., medical devices (ideal) or automotive, or similar.
  • Experience must include staff supervision (including disciplinary and hire-fire) of production managers.
  • Must have background in Kaizen and/or Lean practices.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Demonstrates expert functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills. Demonstrates expertise in multiple areas and industry. Demonstrates proficient knowledge of the function and a thorough understanding of Flex and related business. Demonstrates knowledge of multiple functional technologies/ processes, industries or functions and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.

Use of the following tools may be required: Office Skills: typing, telephones, data entry, HR related and office software to include word processing, spread sheets, and presentation packages. Must have a good knowledge of employment law and company practices, with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or styles. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Scope/Impact:

Impacts the medium-term direction and operational success of the function. Executes and provides input to functional plans and objectives for the site. Creates functional processes or technologies. Has experience in leading major initiatives and provides input to those initiatives. May have P&L responsibility for sections/sub-functions.

Decision-making/Discretion:

Makes decisions for the function and the site. Decisions may affect site.

Supervision/Leadership:

Demonstrates experience in performance development, teaching/leading, mentoring and/or organization development. Instills appropriate behavior in others in support of Flex values. Supports strategic direction for the function.
