Position Summary:

The Designer & Drafter onsite in Trussville, AL will be a key member of Fox PVD's Production Integration team focusing on creating Value Stream Maps and Plan for Every Part documents, as well as overseeing domestic and international packaging development. In addition, this individual will assist in the design and manufacturing of jigs, templates, work instructions, part prints, as well as participate in building full prototype vehicles.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Identify and lead continuous improvement opportunities by collaborating with Production teams at each upfitting facility.
  • Provide component packaging design requirements to external suppliers, striving to improve pack densities while ensuring component integrity.
  • Create and actively update Plan for Every Part documents for future programs.
  • Construct Value Stream Maps for future programs.
  • Retain records on hardware and tool logs.
  • Test install First Article components and provide feedback to other functional groups.
  • Validate that First Article components meet functional requirements.
  • Analyze manufacturing and quality issues and provide potential solutions.
  • Create 3D models for jigs, templates, and components.
  • Operate and maintain 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and additional development assets.
  • Assist in building prototype vehicles.
  • Calibrate various modules in prototype and production vehicles.
  • Participate in the documentation of assembly processes, including assembly prints as required.  
  • Prepare reports for manager to meet as required with Sales, Marketing, Production, Quality and other departments to communicate project status and solicit feedback.
  • Manage and support up to five programs concurrently.
  • Travel as required to support program launches.

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • CAD skills and modeling experience – Solidworks proficiency required.
  • Knowledge of Lean methodology. 
  • Modern manufacturing methodology familiarity: Injection Molding, Thermoforming, Ultrasonic Welding, and Additive/Subtractive manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of the practical application principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to document the manufacturing of technical products. 
  • Time management and prioritization skills.
  • Microsoft office proficiency required.
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skillset.

Position Qualifications:

Education:

Industrial Engineering degree required

Experience:

4+ years of Industrial and/or Manufacturing experience

Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred

Microsoft Visio proficiency required

Experience with Solidworks preferred; PLM experience preferred 

Automotive and/or Aerospace industry experience preferred

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Shop & Office Environments

Occasionally lift and or move heavy objects.

Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on a computer.

Some travel required to support program launch and test installation functions.
