We are seeking a PRN Unit Clerk for our Step-Down Unit to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. We are an amazing team that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.

Frankfort Regional Medical Center (FRMC) is a 173 bed, acute care facility, Level III Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, and Accredited Chest Pain Center. We primary serve the areas of Franklin, Anderson, Owen, Woodford, Shelby, and other surrounding counties.

The Unit Clerk works directly under direct supervision of the Director/Clinical Supervisor, and under the close direction of registered nurses. Performs activities and services that promote the physical and emotional health and personal comfort needs for assigned patients by delivering the messages to appropriate staff member. The unit clerk is responsible for using Service Excellence and Customer Service Initiatives promoting customer satisfaction including physician patient, family members, and co-workers during the shifts. Responsible for certain data collection, documentation and communication involved in the unit structure standards.


  • Greets and interacts with all patients, significant others, visitors, guest, in a cheerful, courteous, positive manner at all times.

  • Assist in the admission of new patients, preparing ghost chart,

  • Complete computer admission data as needed in a timely, proficient and complete manner

  • Ensure the patient receives a patient education folder

  • Report any admission issues or concerns to the primary RN or Charge nurse immediately
  • Assist in providing correct bracelets for safety and prevention of injury for all patients (falls, skin integrity, isolation, etc)

  • Ensure nurse station and department is clean, tidy and in order.

  • Discharge time is correctly documented in computer

  • Assist in updating and maintaining all logs, census sheets, midnight census sheets

  • Assist physician with the electronic health record navigation and order entry as needed

  • assist with ordering of unit supplies as assigned

  • All other duties as assigned



  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred)


  • American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Healthcare provider upon employment (required)

  • 6 months of medical terminology or office clerk/secretary (preferred)

  • Knowledge of computer skills (preferred)


  • PRN (hours vary)

  • Weekend & Holiday coverage (as requested)
