Description

The Employee Relations Investigations Specialist I supports Field, Corporate and Distribution partners with daily employee relations related activities by conducting workplace investigations into associate concerns/complaints. In addition, They will help support overflow from the Compliance team on duties such as Attendance Ticketing, background check reviews, exit interviews, Fitness for Duty calls, workplace investigations, and shoplifting prevention violations. The ER Investigations Specialist I is responsible for supporting the employee relations team in managing and conducting workplace investigations into employee complaints, misconduct, and policy violations. This role assists with intake, fact-finding, documentation, and case tracking.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain thorough and high-quality case documents for investigations and employee relations work, including, but not limited to, investigation notes, summaries, timelines, reports, letters, corrective action documents and warnings         
  • Track and log employee relations related information and data .       
  • Support internal projects and initiatives as needed.   
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.        
  • Assist with the intake and triage of employee complaints, including concerns related to harassment, discrimination, retaliation, code of conduct violations, and other misconduct.       
  • Support investigation processes by preparing interview questions, scheduling interviews, taking notes, and collecting evidence or documentation.      
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely records of investigations and outcomes in case management systems.  
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Legal, Compliance, and other internal stakeholders during investigations.      
  • Draft investigation summaries under guidance from senior team members.             
  • Ensure investigative procedures comply with internal policies, labor laws, and ethical standards.              
  • Track investigation metrics and case outcomes to support trend analysis and reporting. 
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of investigative processes, tools, and documentation standards.         
  • Stay up to date on company policies, employment regulations (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA), and investigation best practices.             
Scope

  • Decision making: Executes decisions within defined policies and procedures. Autonomy in decisions to formulate recommendations to key decision makers regarding ER matters.

The anticipated rate for this position is $39.00 per hour depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. Associates can accrue paid sick time up to 64 hours per year unless otherwise required by law. The Company observes 100 hours of paid holiday time.

Requirements

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Computer Science, Communications, or related field. (Preferred)
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) highly desired.
  • 2 years direct experience in an employee relations-focused role conducting workplace investigations
  • 2 years experience in the specialty areas of HR Service Center, Drug Free Workplace, Compliance, Performance Management, ADA/LOA
Skills
  • Knowledge of State and Federal employment laws applicable to all areas of Human Resources
  • Familiarity with HR systems, such as HRIS, HR Reporting and Case Management software
  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
  • Retail or service experience beneficial
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong emotional intelligence, and ability to build trust, rapport
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with personal and protected information Ability to multitask and prioritize work flow
  • Proficient MS Office skills including Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Efficient at communicating both written and verbally
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
Physical Requirements
  • Corporate - Remote - General office environment requiring ability to: *Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time . *Speak and listen to others in person and over the phone and video conferencing. *Use keyboard and read from computer screen and reports. *The ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
