Fabrication Specialist – Plymouth, Michigan

What are we looking for?

The Fabrication Specialist is responsible for on-site fabrication of fixtures and test set-ups; providing assistance and advice to the engineering team; and evaluation and repair of mechanical and elctro-mechanical equipment using a combination of internal and external resources.  

Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

What you'll do:

  • Machining per provided prints of mechanical test assemblies.
  • Assembly and verification of mechanical test assemblies.
  • Welding ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Overseeing and advising others on the use of shop resources.
  • Advising the mechanical design team and other engineering staff with emphasis on optimizing designs to be efficiently fabricated.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop equipment and lab equipment as needed.
  • Other duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years related experience including extensive welding, milling, lathe work, equipment design repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management

  • Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties
  • Must be customer focused and quality driven

     

  • Have the ability to lift 50 pounds.

 

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • CNC experience preferred
