Technician Team Leader – 45000 Helm Street, Plymouth, Mi.

What are we looking for?

The Technician Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of an assigned group of technicians within an assigned facility.  This position will also perform testing, or support testing, through a variety of functions/duties. 

Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

What you'll do:

Listed examples are illustrative and representative of the tasks required of this position and are not intended to be complete or exclusive. Duties may include the following:

  • Day-to-day supervision of technicians, including assigning and overseeing work; mentoring staff; approving time and expense reports; conducting performance reviews; enforcing company policy. 
  • Confer with engineering personnel to resolve issues related to specifications and test plans.
  • Conducts standardized tests, analyzes test data, and performs routine calculations.
  • Monitor controls and instruments to records test data.
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance and calibration on instrumentation or test apparatus.
  • Communicate schedules and forecasts to management.
  • Communicate project updates to clients, co-workers, sales personnel and management as necessary.
  • Provide technical support to sales or other departments as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 7+ year directly related experience.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, in both verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to lead personnel to achieve expected results. 
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with ever changing priorities.
  • Ability to remain flexible with work schedule, including working varying shifts and / or overtime as business needs dictate.
  • MS Office proficiency.

  • Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding timelines.

  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal, written and presentation formats.
  • Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties.

  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Plastics/ Chemical/ Mechanical Engineering/Materials.
  • Understanding of common polymer materials test methods (ASTM, ISO, other) 
  • Knowledge of plastics fabrication methods
