The Stepping Stones Group is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher for a school-based position in Stamford, CT! The Special Education Teacher will be part of our on-site Intensive Behavioral Students Services team and will serve to lead, inspire, and support adolescent students in an Elementary self-contained classroom.   What We're Looking For   Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution  
  • Connecticut certification in Comprehensive Special Education in good standing
  • 2+ years' experience working as a Special Education Teacher within school districts
  • Understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and behavior management 
     
What You'll Do 
  • Support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs, adapting general education lessons to meet the individual needs of students  
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of students with identified special needs, ensuring their academic and developmental success
  • Monitor student progress, making data-driven adjustments of teaching methods and materials needed to keep students on a successful learning path  
  • Manage behaviors by implementing effective behavior support plans that foster positive student outcomes 
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, RBTs, therapists, support staff, and families to build an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development initiatives to promote academic, social, and emotional growth
