Job Summary

Effectively leads and manages the HR Business Partner team in delivering strategic services that align people plans with organizational goals. Implements an HR Business Partner team and service delivery model that provides expert guidance on people-related matters, solving business challenges, and driving employee engagement and retention. Collaborates with cross-functional HR leaders to understand the broad HR programs and ensure HRBPs are well-versed in HR offerings aiding effective consultation with executives and leaders. 

Essential Responsibilities

HR Business Partner Strategy & Business Acumen

  • Leads the implementation of effective HR programs through HR Business Partners in partnership with other HR operational areas. 

  • Implements a service delivery model addressing current and future talent needs by aligning people strategies with department/division goals and the organization's mission. 

  • Regularly interacts and builds relationships with business leaders to identify areas of need and opportunity in people management and development. 

  • Serves as a leading member in reorganizations, workforce planning, and change management initiatives, with responsibilities in conducting readiness of stakeholders, developing change plans, and evaluating outcomes. Partners with KS Communications as needed. 

Supervisory & Leadership

  • Provides operational leadership and guidance to ensure consistency and alignment of service delivery, effectively communicating the vision, strategy, and goal. 

  • Assesses and evaluates workload, efficiently allocating team resources to ensure highest level of client satisfaction. 

  • Builds a strong, high-performing, and diverse team while fostering a productive work environment.  

  • Provides support to HRBPs when complex, specialized, and sensitive issues arise. May be required to executive routine tasks and/or conduct investigations in high-risk situations. 

  • Interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department as needed. 

Process Improvement & Data Literacy

  • Assists in developing, implementing, and documenting HRBP processes for continuous improvement and quality assurance, that are informed by best practices. 

  • Collaborates with HR Technology to consistently assess, review and modify operational processes; implements system enhancements as needed. 

  • Creates and implements HRBP processes that leverage data analytics, trends, and regulatory changes to forecast future workforce needs. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, or related field. 

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in HR. 

  • Minimum of 1 year in management or leadership role, with demonstrated knowledge of people management principles. 

  • Experience integrating across multiple HR disciplines. 

  • Demonstrated understanding of the broader business implications of decisions. 

  • Demonstrated ability to assess and formulate strategies for new and challenging situations. 

  • Ability to lead, develop, and motivate diverse teams, often without formal authority. 

  • Ability to exert influence on key stakeholders towards alignment and decisive action. 

  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment and labor laws (i.e., ADA, FMLA, UI, wage and hour laws, etc.) 

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with different audiences, including coaching, conflict resolution, and negotiation. 

  • Proficiency in technology and office applications. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an educational setting. 

  • Industry Certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM, HRCI) 

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.

  • Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

  • Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.

Working Conditions

  • This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.

  • Work is conducted in an office environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.

  • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

132,800.00 - 189,600.00 Annual

Based on the compensation range provided below, salaries are commensurate with job-related experience, skills and competencies, education, internal equity, length of work year, and other organizational needs.
