Accounting Assistant – Temp-to-Hire
Location: Alexandria, VA (Kingstowne/Springfield area)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9 AM–3 PM (flexible to regular full-time hours depending on candidate needs)
Work Setup: On-site only

A growing digital agency in Alexandria is looking for an Accounting Assistant to support their accounting and office operations teams. This is a temp-to-hire role offering an hourly rate of $31.25–$36/hr during the temporary period and converting to a $65,000–$75,000 salary once brought on permanently.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you'll help keep the financial and administrative side of the business running smoothly. Your days will include a mix of accounting support, office coordination, and occasional HR and event tasks. You'll work closely with a small, collaborative team that values accuracy, communication, and a positive attitude.

Key Areas You'll Support
  • Entering and organizing financial data and helping maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Online and Excel

  • Tracking transactions, collecting receipts, and assisting with subscription/recurring payment organization

  • Handling front-desk responsibilities such as greeting visitors, answering calls, and keeping shared spaces tidy

  • Assisting with updates to internal HR documents and supporting basic HR-related tasks

  • Coordinating office needs like supplies, lunches, and meeting setups

  • Helping with small company gatherings and events throughout the year

  • Providing general administrative support to leadership as needed

What We're Looking For
  • QuickBooks experience required

  • 2+ years of prior accounting experience

  • Strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

  • Clear, professional communication skills

  • Organized, dependable, and proactive in follow-through

  • A friendly, team-oriented approach and willingness to pitch in where needed
