Advanced Die Casting Process Technician
Location: Wilmington, OH
Shift: 3rd Shift | Monday–Friday | 11:30 PM – 7:30 AM
Salary: $75,000 to 90,000 based on experience
FULL BENEFITS PACKAGE Position Summary
The Advanced Process Technician is a senior-level technical and leadership role responsible for overseeing and actively participating in the design, implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement of die cast manufacturing processes. This role leads complex process initiatives, tooling design and modification, robotic automation programming, and operational standard development. The Advanced Process Technician sets process improvement targets, prepares and manages departmental capital budgets, recommends staffing levels, and provides technical leadership and oversight Process Technician level I & II
Scope of Responsibilities- Lead the design, layout, and implementation of new die casting manufacturing processes
- Analyze, modify, and optimize existing die cast operations to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Oversee and participate in robotic and automated equipment programming
- Establish optimal processing sequences, cycle times, and operational standards
- Lead tooling design modifications, customer claim analysis, and Poke-Yoke implementation
- Prepare annual capital budget recommendations and oversee approved project execution
- Recommend staffing levels and oversee training, development, and performance of Process Technician level I & II
- Lead and supervise Process Technician I and II activities
- Design and implement new manufacturing operations and equipment layouts
- Analyze and improve existing production processes, including equipment relocation
- Determine optimal die casting, machining, and assembly sequences
- Program robotic extractors, deburring robots, and related automation
- Conduct time and motion studies to optimize cycle time and OEE
- Analyze high rejection rates and implement corrective countermeasures
- Modify tooling designs to improve production performance
- Prepare customer claim reports (5P methodology)
- Implement error-proofing (Poke-Yoke) solutions
- Develop and maintain manufacturing operational standards
- Close project gaps, controlled document changes, and change notification reports
- Apply Deming principles and root cause analysis tools to drive continuous improvement
- Develop improvement plans to reduce operational time without adverse ergonomic impact
- Apply Deming principles and structured problem-solving methods
- Participate in Quality Circle and cross-functional improvement teams
- Perform additional continuous improvement activities as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Process Engineering or related field (postgraduate coursework preferred)
- Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible process experience, preferably in die casting
- Strong proficiency in spreadsheets, reporting, and word processing tools
- Demonstrated expertise in Deming principles, root cause analysis, and time & motion studies
- Prior leadership or team oversight experience preferred
